April 4, 201213 yr Author build log with no pics? The pictures will start to come now, as now I am starting. Getting a new blade today, but I work so I won't be doing any cutting. Box should be cut and built tomorrow though. Ordered the HDC3 last night, due to arrive Monday. Along with the order I bought a Team Audioque sticker for the front window and using reward points got a sticker for the back window as well.
April 4, 201213 yr Figured it out using Audioques size recommendations. Box is going to be 6.3 cubes after all displacements, 36hz tuning with a slot port. 87 sq inches of port. Bought the wood today, but I need a new blade on the saw Double baffle on top with 2x4 bracing. Port and sub firing up. Oh and if it isn't clear yet, it's going to be an HDC3 18 Anyone want to buy my old SA12's? Still as stiff as they were on day one!PM me the impedance and price of the SA-12's. I may be interested.
April 4, 201213 yr Author Here's some pictures of the current, soon to be old install. Can't get any good videos with my phone. Here's the dumb strut towers blocking the way My Amp, with the professional looking wiring Gotta represent your local shop!
April 5, 201213 yr wish you used photobucket I will look at the pics once I get home, work blocks tinypic. Building a box in one day eh? Wish I could do that. Hope it comes out good.
April 6, 201213 yr Author I guess sencheezy was right, I couldn't finish the box yesterday. Got all the wood cut out but my drill is at my place in new york. I'm going to drive out there sometime today. Meanwhile here is the current progress:Most of the wood cut out.Forgot to cut these two...Found a piece of pine to use as bracing.Screw locations for baffle all marked out. I think it was about 30 screws on top3" screw for the baffle into sides, then 1" 1/4 for everywhere elseMmm
April 6, 201213 yr Your current install looks great. Why aren't you going with Sundown subs for this install?
April 6, 201213 yr Author I'd love to go with sundown, but the cost of a z 18 would be at least 500$. I'm 17 years old paying for a new 2012 vehicle. I don't have that much money. But enough to keep my hobby going!
April 7, 201213 yr I'd love to go with sundown, but the cost of a z 18 would be at least 500$. I'm 17 years old paying for a new 2012 vehicle. I don't have that much money. But enough to keep my hobby going!I remember those days. Looking good so far!
April 11, 201213 yr Author All done now!Forgot I had a trunk back there...Old box with SA12s, next to new.New location for the jack since I won't be able to access it in the factory location with the box.Juuust fits. The rear hatch is a half inch from the box with it against the seats.Mmmm It's like looking up a skirt...Gotta represent! The sticker they gave me was printed crooked, so it is now crooked on my window :/So far it matches the level of My SA12s. Cone would not move AT ALL, and I thought my 12s were stiff... Playing it at about 700 watts until it lets go a bit. Had to trim the cutout with the box in the truck, Got sawdust everywhere. The hole measured 16.5 like the website says but it didn't fit. Ended up being a little under 17 to fit. Edited April 11, 201213 yr by djtomczak
