April 2, 201213 yr Author For box recommendation, I would suggest creating a seperate thread in the enclosure section sir.
April 2, 201213 yr Someone needs to wash the sand off his clam. I haz no sand on my clam?Im mad you have a clam but he wasnt referring to you with that comment.
April 2, 201213 yr i over power my zcons and never had any problems.. lows or higher hertz.. but i have found out with too much box cause a sub not to have enough back pressue causing the sub to act as if its free air, but you can see my videos of the zcons in action.. youtube.com/flahertz
April 2, 201213 yr correct fl hertz is on the money . whenever you add over rated power to a sub you must change the box to accommodate .smaller enclosure more power handling, but still at shorter periods of play time. the more power you add the higher the freq will be unless in a 4th order, it can be counter tuned with the ported section. tunning will also change by adding or subtracting power in large quantities..
April 2, 201213 yr also remember when you push subs past there rated limits warranty goes out the window and one look at the subs coil will tell all.

I learned something today if this is true..
April 2, 201213 yr Admin also remember when you push subs past there rated limits warranty goes out the window and one look at the subs coil will tell all.Yes, sir.
April 2, 201213 yr Well I definetly don't want them to destruct. I know ~ 500 watts rms is too nuch but I like the idea of having the head room and I don't have to use all the power the amp has. I'm just trying to get a box built to the right specs as all of my enclosures in the past have been wal-mart pre-fabs with the subs already installed. No guess work and was good for me. I'm getting more into the "customized" stuff now.
April 2, 201213 yr Worse case if they do blow, I will get some more. I just don't know anything about box building and living here in Alabama, not sure where to go. Most people just buy prefabs with subs loaded from the local place. Sony, Kenwood, Kicker are big around here. Off the shelf goodies. I wanted to try something new.
