I have always been one of those "a watt is a watt" guys, but now I have changed my opinion.

When you conduct this same experiment in a scientifically controlled setting, with a scientifically valid experiment, let me know ;)

The differences you heard are likely due to either power or gain differences. That simple.

What about signal processing issues inside the amp itself? My orion amp put out more power than this one, but it didn't sound as good. It put out so much power that the crossover would go into protect for the tweeters. The amp just didn't sound as good. I had the gain less than halfway on the orion. I just don't see the watt is a watt arguement being valid in any circumstance when amps have signal processing circuits built in.
