Posted May 30, 201213 yr YO, I am getting ready to set up a dual alt in my 2001 chevy astro van but the last few days alone it has been 90+ degrees so i am very indifferent about getting rid of my A/C if anyone knows of anyone that was able to keep A/C and run multiple alts please share.I am willing to get rid of my belt driven fan and go electric as well as add cold air intake to free up space in front of the belt and pulley area if anyone knows a way to Fab up something. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
May 30, 201213 yr Author Can you replace the tensioner like I did? And fab up a bracket and turnbuckle thats what we had planned on wanted to see if anyone had a few ideas
May 30, 201213 yr Get rid of the fan anyways, add the electric fan, fab up a mount and drive attachment to the water pump and bam.
May 30, 201213 yr Call Ohio, if anyone has experience with multiple alternators in Astros it will be them.
May 30, 201213 yr Scottie Johnson used to have 1 or 2 Astros too (XS Power). I do not know if he ever had any upgraded alts on it or not but worth a shot.
May 30, 201213 yr Scottie Johnson used to have 1 or 2 Astros too (XS Power). I do not know if he ever had any upgraded alts on it or not but worth a shot.Considering the amount of power he ran I have to imagine he had multiple alts.J
May 30, 201213 yr He had 128,000w of power on 50+ Optimas.. but i "think" he always ran with the vehicle OFF...However, people like him who run vehicle off could also of had multi alts for advertising and cosmetic purposes.
May 30, 201213 yr Pretty sure he didn't have air conditioning or even drive the van. This guy is looking for a REAL WORLD replacement, not something used in competition lanes.
May 30, 201213 yr it was undriveable, hehe. But knowing Dave.. we do not know what he is thinking, lol.
May 31, 201213 yr All very good points.Gotta love needing to add alts.JThe compromises we make for car audio. People make funny ass faces when you try to explain some of the stuff we do.
