Posted June 2, 201213 yr Ok, so after doing the voltage setting of the gain, I figured I need around 50 volts for the saz2500d running at 1 ohm. Currently at 40 till I get the inside done with bracing. Problem is, when I turn volume up to 29-30, after 10-15 seconds the circuit breaker up front for the positive run of 0 gauge trips. Then the amp goes into protect mode. Am I drawing that much current that I need to run another run of 0 gauge? Have a 31m diehard platinum in the rear, all 0 gauge, and a 270 mechman. Big 3 in 0 gauge and all frame grounds. Amp ground is only 16" or so to frame.
June 2, 201213 yr 2 things, how far is your CB from your power point up front.. either the front battery or the alternator..two, how many times has it tripped thus far and how many amps is it
June 2, 201213 yr how does the circuit breaker trip then the amp go into protect? The breaker is killing the circuit so if ur amp is in protect, then it's still getting power from somewhere which sounds dangerous.
June 2, 201213 yr i am with shizzzon on this one but some food for thought2500watts on 12volts is around 210amps. How big is your CB? and is it possible the positive run's bare wire is touching something steel in the car? as in to say could there be a cut in the wire in such a way if you go over a big bump it shorts out?
June 2, 201213 yr Circuit breakers trip with heat. Too much current causes the internals to heat and it trips. When they are mounted in the engine bay the engine heat causes them to falsely open.
June 2, 201213 yr im sure its protecting for a few reasons....1 he does not have a volt meter on the rear battery.. and has no idea when the CB is trippping... so he keeps playing... untill the voltage is either to low to play .. or its protecting thermally from low voltage
June 3, 201213 yr Author What's the voltage drop?13.6-7 before, 12.5-6 afterhow does the circuit breaker trip then the amp go into protect? The breaker is killing the circuit so if ur amp is in protect, then it's still getting power from somewhere which sounds dangerous.it's getting power from rear batt. Cb is on front batt

Cb trips at 13.6-7. how big is the circuit breaker.... hopefully 250a+Yes. 250 ampCircuit breakers trip with heat. Too much current causes the internals to heat and it trips. When they are mounted in the engine bay the engine heat causes them to falsely open.cb is mounted on underside of ECM bracket. The side in which the air flows across bracket to cool ECM. I checked as soon as trip happened and cb was reading 91°i am with shizzzon on this one but some food for thought2500watts on 12volts is around 210amps. No way. Both pos and ground are encased in PVC pipe which was the heated and bent slightly to allow mounting along frame. Pre bent before cable put in. 2 things, how far is your CB from your power point up front.. either the front battery or the alternator..6"two, how many times has it tripped thus far and how many amps is itevery time I go above 28 on volume
June 3, 201213 yr Author Ok, I will put a fuse in place, but why the protect? Gain is not even halfway. Could it be the subs?
June 3, 201213 yr don't know why it's tripping...I do know the more times a circuit breaker trips, the more often it will trip in the future because it weakens it.Circuit breakers also react slower than fuses do too. I personally wouldnt use a circuit breaker in place of where a fuse should be.Now, the amp is seeing 12.6-7 once it trips. That means it no longer sees the alternator...The amp is probably going into protect once the breaker trips because of low voltage drop once it's only power source is a battery. If you have an ammeter, i'd set it to peak hold right at the circuit breaker and play it until it trips and see what current was flowing through there.
June 3, 201213 yr once a CB trips.. it will trip easily and then every time after that easier and easier
June 3, 201213 yr Author Ok. Tomm I'm going to get another 250amp fuse and holder. These things are getting a bit on the pricey side. But oh well. Also today I rechecked the output voltage on the amp to recheck the gain. It was at 82.1 on 28. Wtf. Don't know how. I reset it to 50.9, closest I could get it to 50. Then played bass ballin for 15 min straight with no issues. Whew hew. Never never could do that. Also while I had the box loose, I put the dd1 omit and it told me I could go another 1/4 turn before clipping. Wtf. Piece of junk. When I did this, after 15 seconds breaker tripped again. Never will I use this thing again. I am always going to use the voltage method
