March 16, 200421 yr 1. calculate cone area rather than number of subs (it takes 3 8's to make a 15!) or have some sort of trade off chart.2. specify whether number of amplifiers counts non-subwoofer amps, etc.3. specify that boxes have to be in a certain position (ie, behind the back seats for cars, behind the door jamb for trucks)4. will you offer clinics?5. how will disputed scores and such be handled?
March 16, 200421 yr Author 1. calculate cone area rather than number of subs (it takes 3 8's to make a 15!) or have some sort of trade off chart.[im a big believer of the install makes a system, not size of sub...]2. specify whether number of amplifiers counts non-subwoofer amps, etc.[im still working on that, but only the sub amp counts and the others have to be off or unpluged...]3. specify that boxes have to be in a certain position (ie, behind the back seats for cars, behind the door jamb for trucks)[again im working on that too...]4. will you offer clinics?[what do you mean, if you mean help people yes i will have one...]5. how will disputed scores and such be handled?[ill have the final say, im sure they will be people not playing fare but hopefully i can weed them out quick...]thanks for your replyjamie 1. calculate cone area rather than number of subs (it takes 3 8's to make a 15!) or have some sort of trade off chart.[im a big believer of the install makes a system, not size of sub...]2. specify whether number of amplifiers counts non-subwoofer amps, etc.[im still working on that, but only the sub amp counts and the others have to be off or unpluged...]3. specify that boxes have to be in a certain position (ie, behind the back seats for cars, behind the door jamb for trucks)[again im working on that too...]4. will you offer clinics?[what do you mean, if you mean help people yes i will have one...]5. how will disputed scores and such be handled?[ill have the final say, im sure they will be people not playing fare but hopefully i can weed them out quick...]thanks for your replyjamie

March 17, 200421 yr Just a suggestion, when promoting shows make sure that restrooms and concessions are availble. *If you live in a more metropolitan area see if you can get some assistance from local companies or corporations, ie Pepsi, Coca Cola, etc.....*Do some stuff for the public. Promotions of some kind so that the portion of the public that opposes the soundoffs sees that it's not just a bunch of "vagrants pounding on their stereos". At our last show we had local audio volunteers participate in "Dunk the Punk". Basically we put local installers, competitors, etc in a dunking booth and raised money for Hospice, which is a non for profit organization that aids the terminally ill.*Make sure that you let everyone know about the event. Blanket the forums. Word of mouth is powerful.*Pick a good staff to help you out. The key to an awesome show is things running smooth.*Have music there, whether it be live or just CD's in a PA system. It breaks the silence!*Do other stuff besides the show. Get the spectators involved! They are potential competitors! Last year we did a "woofer toss".*Have a BLAST!!! If people see that you're having fun with it so will they!!**These are all just suggestions, you may have used all or none but this is what has worked out great for us.

May 6, 200421 yr Define wall.............some its no more than 3" from ceiling others its bottom of window line. There has to be a rule............size limit of woofers?? if not I'm gettin all 18's for ur comps. The @1ohm rule does that mean i can't burp @ 1/2 ohm or 1/4 ohm?? Cause some do ass loads more. Plus is that real power @ 1ohm or rated power?? Sometimes there's a difference. Also the woofer toss killer idea. prahaps have a contest for move the coin the most.....put a silver dollar on the roof.........move the silver dollar the furthest in 30 sec. win something.........i donno its a dumb idea but its an idea.J
