wrong anology.

IT would be better to say would you pick a luxury family vehicle over a sportscar for the same price?

Both can go over the speed limit easily but each vehicle has it's own features that are a lot easier to obtain if using the correct car.

As long as my "luxury family vehicle" can hit some lows better then cvrs that were tuned really high, ill be just fine lol

These analogies are great! (i actually lol'd at "you still have a ferrari or a lambo") Yeah, dont worry - that Q will hit plenty low for ya :)

BTW: what amp are you running?

Right now I only have a rockford fosgate R750-1D but I haven't exactly figured out what to upgrade to yet. I was leaning to the crescendo bc2000 but another question is can a q actually take 1500 daily or should I run less

Every one of these posts are answered with a BL. Why no love for the Q?

Most of the answers are "if you have to ask get the BL." Why? Do you think the Q was a poor design? Not reliable? Only intended for special installs?

I know the xcon is not the same driver and I'm not implying that but aren't they designed with a similar premise? I don't see any threads saying if you have to ask get a zcon.

It has nothing to do with no love for the Q. Personally if I had to choose it'd be a no brainer to take it over a BL. The reason you see responses like that though is the classic misconception that most people have. Q = SQ, SQ <= shitty sound, BL = Loud, My wants are LOUD and sounding good so I must need the Q. Then the question becomes Q or BL and when that is asked it is always asked by someone who doesn't know (otherwise the answer is obvious) and I have yet to meet someone who doesn't know that the Q is better for. There are exceptions but they just haven't surfaced on this site yet.

The decision needs to be based on enclosure and goals. Then it's really easy. In this case that screams BL.

I'm just curious on your opinion, if you were in my place and had one Q 15, how would you design your box?

Perhaps you didn't read my comments. First off you design a system, not just a box. Knowing nothing about the rest of then what I'd have I can't really answer. And of course, more importantly I seriously doubt my goals and yours would line up. Like not even close. That being said, if I had 3cuft and someone gave me a Q15 if you were wondering what I'd do with it, well I'd sell it and buy something that fit my goals better.

You got to be kidding me. Both will get you from a to b but if you hit a wall like you did with your shitty box then sure it's not going to turn out well.

PS- I'm a fan of a the Q but you should have gotten the BL.

That would probably be enough for a 12" Q.

And you bought it already so why ask more options from others but your own ears now?

Well heres my opinion on amps and power: Its always better to have an amp more powerful than your speakers - you can always set the gain a little lower and it will also ensure that you always get a clean signal. My Q has the cooling option and extra spider (i thk thats all) and its doing just fine on 1700 watts. Well, its a hifonics amp so who knows if its really 1700 RMS, but im sure its more than your 750-1d. Its never smelled or anything even after blasting for a long time. A bc2000? thats a lot of power but, like i said, just be careful with the volume and gain and you'll be fine!

There will always be upgrades in the future so what's wrong with gaining some knowledge?

Yea I was thinking the same thing as far as the clean signal goes and my q does have the cooling option too. But really that is the only amp I have found for that price that puts out that kind of power but any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Put that Q in a well designed 4cu net box tuned at 28-32hz with 50sq in of port and it will really dig some low notes out. If you want lows it's more about the enclosure than the sub.

How about Sundown amps? I've heard the 1500 is nice. I'd love to try one myself but until i get the $ that will have to wait haha! Im thinking about running my dual Q setup off of a 3500 but we'll see...

Tellin you what though - i'll be jealous of that bc2000 if you decide to do that. I bought my hifonics before i learned a thing or two and, while it has served me well, im itching to upgrade to something better. (i might just wait till something goes wrong cause for less than 200 bucks, its done pretty darn good haha)

Thanks for the input. I may be able to do that when I get a different vehicle in the future but for now the biggest box I can fit is around 3.5 cubes (yes I realize I said I could only get 3.04 cubes out of this box but I found another way to get some space)

Yea I was looking at the saz 1500 buts its pretty pricey for the power compared to the crescendo

Yeah man if you've done some reasearch and you like the crescendo, Then go for it- i certainly can't find a reason to argue against it! I would assume youve got all the electrical to back it up right? 0awg, big 3, batt or alt, etc...

In good time lol

Haha, we'll your gonna need it for that bc2000, that's for sure. My hifonics dims the headlights with big 3, all 0 awg, and a good batt. And that's in a yukon. Rev'd up it dosent really drop below ~12 but steady 14 would be nice. Mechman 270 is coming before I do that dual q build though :)

Ya I knew it wasn't quite right but still you gotta consider when ppl have only had kickers etc in prefab enclosures any fi sub would be like a lambo to the Honda (kicker) :P

Yeah, a kinetic or xs power is definitially in your future. Btw: when you go to do the big 3, get your self some crimps and one of these. There's no need to spend 80-100 dollars on a pro crimper your gonna use 6 times.

http://www.amazon.com/Pico-0685t-Lug-Crimping-Tool/dp/B001QRS88C/ref=pd_sxp_f_pt

There's a little technique to useing it, but you'll figure it out- just buy a few extra crimps to practice on. Some might reccomend sodering as well as crimping and I can't Argue with that, but I just crimped all of mine and have had no problems yet (3 or 4 thousand miles). This isn't really relevant to this post but I figured a little extra info wouldn't hurt

Most definitely. $20 sounds much better then $100

Just throwing this out there. Just picked up a aq2200 off their website. They have a 15% off sell goin on. So let the electrical upgrades begin

Sweet! Glad to hear it! Have you checked out knukonceptz for wiring yet? I'm using their kolossus 1/0 awg for my big 3 and run to the back and that stuff is HUGE! I even compared it to some rockford fosgate 0 awg that i have and its bigger and more flexible (5145 strands i think). Im also using battery terminals, a volt meter/distro block, and 6 channels of 6m Karma SS RCA from them and have wonderful results with all their products. Prices are great too! Im sure there are other great brands out there as well, but thats just my 2 cents, if you were wondering :)

U like the karma ss wires? I got a set of 4 channels and they were broke only worked if I pushed the cord in.
