November 20, 20168 yr Aight, so let's get real. Do you guys have some underwear, undershirt companies you swear by? I was going to check out Mack Weldon but $32 for an undershirt seems steep.

Not cheep but last forever. Way less stinky or clingy than cotton. For tshirts i basically only wear athletic performance clothing. Underarmor is ok, but the nike pro shirts are incredible.
November 20, 20168 yr These shirts are my fave. http://m.nike.com/us/en_us/pd/pro-cool-mens-short-sleeve-training-top/pid-10276918/pgid-11581740
November 20, 20168 yr This is my favorite thermal. Not that you asked. But the performance of keeping me warm enough and cool enough is almost like cashmere. I have the grey. http://m.nike.com/us/en_us/pd/sphere-element-mens-long-sleeve-running-top/pid-11174056/pgid-11072139

November 21, 20168 yr Anyone into blackbear yet? Definately unique sound. Most songs are bangers. Great workout or driving music for me.
November 21, 20168 yr Anyone use non-satellite or non-cable for TV? Or if I asked more straightforward I mean TV over internet? Curious how to lower a bill for a service we barely turn on...
November 21, 20168 yr We only use internet. Netflix and such. I basically watch youtube and HBO however.
November 21, 20168 yr I watch no sports and almost no normal "tv shows". Lots of what i like to watch is on youtube or direct sights. /Drive is great, lots of news channels, tome great comedy etc etc.
November 21, 20168 yr I don't konw that I "watch" sports, but I sit on my chair with games on while I work on things. Right now that is rooting for Washington but not seeing anything that isn't exciting. Something about a 70" TV and 10' away allows you to ignore it and see all the action at the same time.
November 21, 20168 yr Sean, we use the lowest package from Sling TV for basically ESPN and AMC. $20 for 25 channels that are decent works well for us. We normally use Netflix and Amazon for everything else.
November 21, 20168 yr We use Netflix almost exclusively, some Amazon. I think if you want sports packages that ties you to cable, but we don't really watch sports so it doesn't bother us. We haven't had cable/satellite for ~2 years now.
November 21, 20168 yr Right now we do a combo of a few things. Antenna TV can get you all the major networks (ABC, NBC, CBS, etc.) for free in 1080p. You can use TV Fool to check what you get. You can use Sling to get ESPN and some other channels. Some ISPs provide "ESPN3" for streaming. There's also Netflix and Hulu, etc. for streaming shows. Lastly, if you are in a pinch, if you had someone else's DTV login you could get a lot of other streaming options.
November 21, 20168 yr HBO is just about the only channel worth paying for. The food network would be awesome too but not worth it for me. It has been nice while netflix had some of their shows.
November 21, 20168 yr So, a string of cars in our neighborhood was broken into last night, including ours, but nothing was taken. I had been thinking about putting up some cameras and this kind of solidifies the idea for me. I'll be looking for a couple things. One is probably your more typical up close camera, the second is something with a little more reach. I live on a corner where a lot of the traffic to our area of the neighborhood comes by. It would be nice to be able to catch cars coming in and out in the event that someone hits a few of our houses. I'm trying to decide my options. Local storage is important. Remote viewing should be easy peasy. I just don't know if I want to buy into and eco system or "create my own". Any ideas?
November 21, 20168 yr Before you get into the whole camera thing start with prevention that will help you with your camera idea. Set up more exterior lighting. Its one of the easiest and most cost effective ways to help reduce the likelyhood of crime and it will help your cameras to do the job. If you have enough lighting you can get really cost effective cameras with local storage. Menards sells whole kits and I cannot recomend that route enough. Unless you are prepared to set up your whole system... Ask Sean about home automation and then double the complexity as you will have to manage data flow and recording much better. The cost of setting up storage alone is nuts. That said I think we just crated a stprage solution with either 15TB or 30TB of medium to small business level storage. Im ready to dowload the whole internet... Well, maybe just pornhub.
November 21, 20168 yr Lots of people will tell you to try the motion detection lights, but im over it. Super high efeciency LED is good enough IMHO. If it were me and I was building a more secure home I would add lots of gentle LED lights that come on after dark, and then some more powerful motion activated lights. Since its car break ins, get a cheep car alarm? Just something for when its parked at home and get some light on it. Then attack your camera question with an illuminated perspective.
November 21, 20168 yr Great point on the lighting. I'm going to look into a motion sensor right out front and leave on the garage lights at night. I already needed one to light up my shed at night when I go in and out of it. For the perimeter, more for convenience than security, I found some solar LEDs that glow dim at night and light up if you walk by. Maybe I should go ahead and give into Christmas lights this year
