Go buy an oscillating spindle sander.

End of story.

Lord no.  I will use it once every 3 years for something quicker than jigging my belt sander up.  Just don't want to not have that be an option.

If was going to get picky I’d buy the gold Makita. Otherwise the Wen or general international would be my next top picks.

Drill press spindle sanding drum is a crap way to go.

This

My AC shit on me last night.  At 4am I was balls deep in the furnace and it turns out the blower wasnt spinning because the belt was all stretched like a polish whore.

Thank god it's from the 50s and had a tensioner. The motor wasnt happy with no air flow however.

Get home tonight and its borked again.  Fucking thermostat was just slightly off and it's not smart enough to tell me it isnt sending the signal to the fucking furnace or AC.  The tech is coming out in the AM, but I'm not a fan of trying to sleep in humid armpit fresh air after a downpour.

At least I'll get more than 3 hours of sleep tonight.... I hope.

Have you ever tried melatonin taking for your sleep?

Wasn't at all buying it to be a sander, just don't want a complete POS.

Amusing that one Ryan says ok and the other junk.  I expected more alignment from the two of you.

I'm tailoring my 'ok' to the assumption it won't see much use and you aren't doing much with it...

Do you have a Grizzly dealer nearby?  Only "cheap" or "budget" press I would buy.

Those look impressive. Good call.

Amusingly I have never tried the Gabapentin. Does it help you with nerve pain?

While I do have a script for gabapentin, and it helps take the edge off of the nerve pain, I meant the over the counter amino acid GABA.

Guess I will run up to Acme and see what they sell me.

Buy a nice little mill and call it a day.

I am building one of these now:

...and since I don't have a welder I thought of machining the frame out of aluminum.  I suppose I could just grab a welder and do it out of steel....but then it is something else to buy.

If I can weasel down the price on the taig I may buy it with the goal of using it to learn about what I really want to buy.  Figure it will always be worth $500 so if I can grab it for $800 then worst case I am out $300 if I flip.  Should even be better than that.  For what I need to drill holes in it would suffice, or worst case I can use it to make a jig to then use the hand drill.

I bet you could use a connection to get a deal on an industrial Haas unit Sean.

If you wanna go cheep, find a little 2000 Bridgeport and never look back.
