January 5, 201510 yr My dad went in to get an LG and ended up with a Sony 4K TV for a heck of a dealI then noticed he had it stuck on 480 lolIs there any 4k content yet? I expect that it'll be another 5 years before it makes sense to go that route and by then it'll be the only choice. Hell there is still a shitload broadcast in SD atm.I want a 4k projector. But I'm on the same "wait till it's everywhere" plan. For me it would be fun to play PC games on the big screen and I could own 4k like a dirty little whore with my rig.

Netflix, YouTube, and Vimeo have 4k content. DirecTV and DishNetwork have 4k content, I think. 4k Blu-Rays should be available by Chirstmas. Samsung, Sony, Panasonic, Sharp, Disney, Fox, Warner Bros., Netflix, DirecTV, Dolby and Technicolor just announced today the formation of a UHD Alliance to standardize the format/content. January 5, 201510 yr Which is the main reason I'm looking at the moment. Everybody's going gaga over all this 4k stuff so they're marking down some of the non-4k screens
January 5, 201510 yr I'm assuming the Viewing Distance * 0.60 formula for TV sizing is still also valid? That means I need a 99" TV for my living room.
January 5, 201510 yr Jared, have you ever worked with those black light tattoo inks?I'm kind of intrigued.Infrequently, but yes. I have a full color set of them and the translucent white. My understanding is that the radioactive part is encapsulated as to not get in the bloodstream. The technology has been around and FDA approved for animals since around the 50's I believe. Only once it was approved for human use has it really became mainstream. The UV side of the ink is prone to fading so I personally don't push it, but will do it if requested. Often times they come back and want an opaque color installed over it after the fact. Same with white tattoo's. Which is the biggest reason I don't care to push the UV or white ink tattoo's. I have used it as a highlight on quite a few tatt's, which is a neat effect.
January 6, 201510 yr I'm a big Samsung fan and they still make plasmas. I recall having heard recently that Samsung is pulling out of the plasma market. However, I agree... I am a big Samsung fan. I have 2 Sammy Plasmas in the house and am currently window shopping for 4K HDTVs right now and Samsung is the only brand I am considering.

Everybody's going gaga over all this 4k stuff so they're marking down some of the non-4k screens 4K screens are really reasonable right now. You can get into 55-60 inch Samsungs for $15-1700. I paid $2600 for the Sammy plasma in my living room ~6 years ago. I am currently itching for a class 55 or 60 for the bedroom right now... Mmmmmm 60 inch 4K pron...

It's interesting to me.It would be a fun way to pay homage to my EDM crazy days and be less overt.Have you heard of Sun damaging the ink and making it more obvious?
January 6, 201510 yr i remember my parents paying over a grand for a Panasonic plasma. 42" 720p and still has a better picture than most lcds ive seenI paid $220.00 for a 55' 1080 LCD not my first choice in brand but a good picture for the price..Like everything else the price on the 4k will go down over time, a buddy of mine grabbed a 50"4k and said he loves it for under a grand..But I will wait till the price goes down but most likely when it does the next best thing will be out.
January 6, 201510 yr Mikey! Just so ya know, I was fucking with yesterday homie. You wouldn't of even got a response if I didn't like you.
January 6, 201510 yr I'm assuming the Viewing Distance * 0.60 formula for TV sizing is still also valid? That means I need a 99" TV for my living room. If it's a large room, probably.

January 6, 201510 yr You can buy 4k up converters to convert 1080 to 4k. I just think for the money a Sharp Q+ is hard to beat and will do 4k content.

It does make sense. It's the 1st time I've thought my 40" was small. I'm not a big fan of watching movies on it and when I play video games I actually sit on the coffee table to be closer.
