I would like to go there one day...

I think I am going to start making my own beef jerky.Anyone have any tips, and opinions on equipment I will need and seasoning opinions..Maybe a new hobby I might be interested in. an save me some money because I am constantly buying this and paying to much for a little ass bag sad.png

Thanks,

Michael

Ha, don't expect to save money unless you shoot it yourself. Once you pull out the water out of steak you cut down it's weight by 2-3x. 3lbs of el cheapo steak at $5/lb to yield a solid pound of jerky is $15 worth of jerky. Plus time etc...

BTW:

Box Fan >>>> Food dehydrator

Convection oven with dehyrate cycle > Box fan

IMO there aren't really other choices.

That is the idea...A family member got a 1/2 cow for the "low low" from a friend, price comes out to a little over $2.00 a lb. I'm going to grab one as well:) jerky in the store here is like $8.00 a 1/2 lb and does not have my "mikel7829 secret sauce";)  ..

Your friend sucks at math or he just bought an old shitty worn out milking cow. 400-500lbs of beef or so from an animal is normal and steers are going for $2400 at WHOLESALE right now. Processing is usually 400-800 depending on what you have done. BEWARE what you are buying. And yes, shitty meat = shitty jerky.

And please, don't put your special sauce on food.

All I know is he paid $100.00 for the calf, threw it in a field and let it grow.As far as I know he never milked it..It is a bull,Maybe he did milk it he is pretty weird! biggrin.png All is left to pay is the kill bill... Tallies up to about $900.00.. And nothing wrong with my special sauce! you dirty old man you! tongue.png

Well, that escalated quickly...

Must be a German mobile. They use stud bolts rather than lug nuts

It is a V8 whatever it is with dual overhead cams...smile.png What is the nose clip? I have no clue. also notice the crack&rust in the braces on the lift!! I would be scared to get under that!!

Pussy.

Probably an Audi. The timing chain problem gives it away.

True! now that you said that the nose does resembles an Audi...I'm still not sure what model it would be,but I do know from past experience they can be a pain to work on"Maybe explains the pic" lol biggrin.png One I last encountered was a 90's model...But I would have to guess the V8's would be a beast with mods!

Sorry, forgot to add I want to buy from a dealer. Damn good price on that thing though.
why? I would much prefer a private party. Much
Dealer will take my trade-in, do all financing work for me, CPO warranty, inspection, etc. . .
All for WAY more cash than if you do it yourself.
Not according to the work I've done so far.
Re-do the work.

Time is too precious to waste.

I agree, but you calculated that all wrong.
