Hassle is about 15 minutes of bolting things together.  Used and PCs haven't been kind to people I know...

Has a great case, power supply and so on so the barebones would be fine.  Understanding which is what on the other hand is not.

Not sure why you want an ssd. I've never used any so no input as to type or brand.

Onboard video should suffice, so video card isn't needed.

Is it worth going to $220 over the $130?

I may have made terrible choices.  No idea.

Looked for the last platform of AMD chip in Quad format in the cheapest derivation.  ASUS Mboard with USB3/SataIII, and cheap ram with a brand i recognized.

I would say you would be getting into the area of diminishing returns. The first links would already be plenty, and even over the next few years as programs demand more resources it would still be plenty. If he was shooting raw files (lol), editing in photoshop, playing video games, rendering cad files, editing large video files, etc than I would say the extra hundred bucks is probably worth it.

Definitely shoots raw.  Although I currently edit them successfully on my wimpy i7, 3517U 1.9GHz ASUS ultrabook

....sweet. 3"x6" hole in my foundation + ultra downpour = many inches of water in my basement.

Epic.

Holy fuck! How did you NOT notice the hole?

The previous owner used silicone to fill it, then used a urethane paint covering. Just looked like a thicker than normal silicone coating. Once I started peeling it back I noticed how thick it was all the way down the driveway. I got to the corner and started scraping it and out popped a huge chunk.

I heard the rain start and in less than 2 min it must have dumped a couple hundred gallons against my foundation.

Ran outside and stuffed a towel into a few plastic bags to help the water flow away from the hole.

Of course I find it on the biggest storm day of the season....

If I don't have power by noon I am going to buy a generator. Cheepest option is $350+, truck in shop, busted pipe in the yard, and need to patch the house.

If the contractor isn't cheep and can do it RIGHT NOW. I will do it myself. Had to call into work which is brutal. Costs me money to not go in.

Happy anniversary to us.

Wife got fucked out of graduation and anniversary stuff. She headed out of town this morning, so yesterday I JUST gave her $500 to spend and have fun. This morning had her just crying.

Least you found your leak source.  :)

Gorilla tape.

Seriously.

Another option is two pieces of plywood, one on each side of the foundation, long bolt through them both, bolt them tight to the wall, caulk between the board and the wall and you are set for a few days.  You aren't looking for a permanent repair, or even a temporary one, you just want to keep water out.  If it was me though, I'd just tape that thing up with some Gorilla tape, and put some plywood around it to divert most of the water away, heck even dig a little trench in the ground to give it somewhere to go to away from the hole.

Been having killer work out's this week.

Is there any patching concrete that will set really fast in the wet? Everything outside is soaked and the contractor can't do it today.

I probably can't urethane it because of the wet, but I can at least patch the big hole and get some closed cell backer bar in there.

Rain has stopped is it still running in?

No, it stopped at about 4:15 after I smashed that plastic bag wrapped towel in the hole.

Just a lot of water to clean up. Half my basement is carpeted.... And those subwoofer enclosures I was working on are probably wrecked.

Thankfully nothing of value was in the Wet and we unplugged everything.

I'm assuming this is a poured concrete foundation? Not a laid up stone?

Foundation is a misleading term. It is where my house and my driveway meet. So not the poured slab that is the basement floor, but the exterior wall that meets the driveway.

Me too actually. Had a nice relaxing massage last night too. All fucked up now.

:-)
