Where's Sean? I don't know dickeo da about cameras but I have an opportunity to trade for one. Looking for something worth 250-300. Is this a decent camera? http://www.amazon.com/camera-photo/dp/B00125MHVM

That is a slim budget for an SLR. I will also make the blanket statement that Sony SLR is not money well spent. I know others love them. Of course they work. You just have less options long term. It instantly limits your options and ability to get a deal.

For that budget I might reccomend a point and shoot of nice quality from any brand. Any camera can take great pictures. The SLR just helps you, and allows you more freedom and helps you get better shots.

I'm looking to sell my Sony a55 for the right price if you would be interested.

OLED Tv's? HELL YES!! oh wait, did you say $13,000? FUCK THAT

Hecto laser projection looks cool too. I will be waiting until they are affordable for once though. I have spent WAY too much money on tv's trying to get the "latest and greatest" when it first comes out, lesson learned.

Why are you selling?

Sony's make sense if you have legacy Konica Minolta glass

Why would that be?

I am a snob.

Nothing more. They have some cool gimmicks, but the lack of support and lens options is huge.

Sony's are Konica's. They bought into the market instead of developing it. Old Konica lenses fit and work on Sony salt cameras

Do those old lenses have AF?

I didn't know they shared a mount with anyone.... I never heard of that brand either however.

I am alway curious of one's thoughts. Nothing else. :)

I am kind of joking. The manager at my store has a Sony, and he loves it. Makes great pics. I just don't see them as having as much support. I didn't know they had some legacy lenses.

My question is; Is there an atvantage to using a UV filter on a DSLR? I am thinking of getting one before I head to the islands to reduce glare.

B&H says it is a good idea. What are your thoughts or is it a no brainer and just pick one up?

They are good for stopping your lens from getting damaged. That is it. DSLR sensors are not sensitive to UV light. A hood would do more for glare.

I have to pick up a smaller hood as I only have a longer one for my zoom lens. The hood is on the list.

No need to get the filter thn.

small hoods don't work. I shattered a uh filter when my camera fell off a table. Saved the lens. UUv's only purpose however
