September 25, 201311 yr If I can get my ducks in a row I'll bring the Mazda back with a hardtop. Found 2 hardtops for sale close to the car (within 160 miles), I need to talk to the car's seller to have the hardtop latches shipped to him. So I'd pick up the car, install side latches, drive to get the hardtop, install hardtop and get back home. *fingers crossed it all works out as expected* This would be my greatest logistical accomplishment so far.
September 25, 201311 yr Surprised you haven't read me the riot act on the Cayenne Turbo's. In particular with the growing pains they had. Meh, you wouldn't listen for one thing... and you can afford to fix it.

Meh, you wouldn't listen for one thing... and you can afford to fix it.I'd listen, may choose to just gamble once I have the info. Can afford and want to are two completely different things. Of course my luck tends to be the opposite of the norm. I buy a cheap to own vehicle and get raped a German luxo bomb and nothing goes wrong. Hoping my luck stays the same. By 2008 the ghosts that fucked the whole Porsche line were designed out of the Cayenne...but I know the maintenance is interesting beyond that. Popping the hood once shows that, lol.
September 25, 201311 yr Sounds like a great project Adrian. Good luck.J Thank you. It sounds more like "oh shit I hope everything goes as planned". And if it does, awesomesauce.

I guess I should also state that I don't like to offer advice on vehicles without a lot of personal hands on as well. Honestly, the Cayenne is one of very few vehicles I have never had my hands on. I personally like them, appointments, power, and appearance... I do find the interior a bit loud for my tastes as I am definitely more of a low key design guy (personally I didn't care for the 2 tone seats in my GN if that is an indication of my tastes, and that is not radical by any means), but the exterior has a nice subdued look. I have honestly found that the online bitching about vehicles is exaggerated by just a few owners unhappy with their vehicles, so I take that with a grain of salt.
September 25, 201311 yr Big green egg guys, can you take a look at the Vision grills pro kamado grill and see how it would compare to the egg?http://www.visiongrills.com/grills/professional-c-series/
September 25, 201311 yr Looks pretty similar. I don't like the knobs on the bottom, looks like a pain to put a temp controller on later. I don't need any 'stinkin knobs to tell me how to set my grill, the thermo works fine thanks. If that is whats local to you and you want one of them, its pretty much what you are stuck with. We've got BGE and Primos here in town. Yes, you will want to put a temp controller on, it is inevitable.
September 25, 201311 yr I can get an egg here but its very expensive. I've found the large one here for 800 plus the cart, stone, and cover its around 1200 out the door plus tax. This one I can get at castco or home depot for 700 and everything is included. I do agree about the temp controller. Same company offers one with the slide vent similar to the egg. I'm sure I could adapt a controller to that style.

For me, I look for as many reasons as possible to talk me out of something. That way when I finally make a decision I don't get remorse. Ending up with a surprise non-calculated $1500 repair always creates a feeling of remorse, but shit obviously happens.
September 25, 201311 yr Oh, and I'd prefer non-flashy as well. If I could make a trailblazer as quick, quiet, and comfy I'd be all in. Could give a shit less about the outside of the car. I do like a nice interior, but nice to me means well appointed and finished. ie, leather dash and such.
September 25, 201311 yr Speaking of. The 2006 I drove yesterday was nice. Surprised that it still "felt" slower than my ML. It was a 500hp TurboS too. Sort of a bummer. Blew a radiator hose on it too.The ML is a brute. Big snarling v8. It will always feel like a crazed gorilla.
September 25, 201311 yr Admin Mercedes training out of town Friday and Saturday... Yay? >On a positive note, my cousin lives nearby and her husband brews some spectacular stouts! Time for a housecrash! cars and beer whats not to like haha? Mercedes... Hey now!

If it is ONLY for ribs and steaks then I'd say that one is fine, just isn't setup as nice for long and low.
September 25, 201311 yr In fact, I'd rather have an el cheapo smoker and a controller for low and slow than that without a controller.

September 25, 201311 yr I am not old enough for a BenzWasn't aware that you had to be old to drive a Benz Can't tell you how many BM'er and Porsche sales people have told me that I am too young for my car. Of course I think, oh, nice fucking sales process moron....although in general I agree on a personal level. That being said, I am not old enough to have kids yet, or a professional job. etc.
