Can't find where to hook up the memory in the 79. Radio resets when off, anybody know of a simple general place to run it to?

Put the ignition wire to any switched source then put the yellow power wire straight to the battery or something that has a strong constant 12v that you wont overload.

Ok thanks, guess that's why at high volume radio shuts off too. This old truck has 3 wires only, had to start guessing.

Should be spade slots in the top of the fuse box, some constant power, others keyed. You will get the least ground loop whine this way and don't need to go through the firewall.

Got some extra 8 gauge just ran a short run from battery, if if whines I'll rip the dash out and kick the dog then set the truck on fire. Lmao

I'm partial to the cigarette lighter in older vehicles myself.  It's usually the closest place for a constant, and if you don't smoke, even better.

Noisy SOB as well. Can't believe the road noise. The 02 chassis volvo smokes it in NVH in that regard. I thought the newer ones were better, conveniently I have weekly calls with the guy who designed the NVH package and updates for them

I've drove worked on and tore apart damn near every vehicle built. The Tahoe is what it is. The escalade is for the ignorant buyer that's clueless about other options in its price range. There is no justification for its price.

Could say that about any 70k+ sport Ute. I just bought the cheapest to make fast

Not any room in the door itself. The window track runs down right beside the speaker cut out. Pretty much the entire enclosure will need to be housed in the panel.
