I'm going to be putting a marine speaker under the hood of my car behind the grille

I want to run a kill switch into the cabin so I can only turn it on when needed

I'm looking for something that will not cause me any resistance or quality loss problems

I'm not real sure how to wire something like this until I see the switch

but I'm guessing you only run the (+) to the switch

and leave the (-) one whole wire

and no i am not turning my car into an icecream truck........

its for the drive in movies

Thanks and have an awesome day

  • Ur sooo rad bro, can I be your friend and hang out with you?

  • What do you think you will achieve at the drive in? Set up your front stage properly and you won't need a center channel.

So i would have to run a separate amp for the marine speaker?

I was kinda hoping to have it wired into my highs @ 4ohm currently

and hit 8ohm when the switch is turned on

of course I would only turn the switch on when the systems off

If it makes any difference I would only be running 150watts max

And why do you want a speaker under the hood of your car?

please re-read OP

Again but why? Every drive in Ive been to provides the sound for the movie. Would this speaker be behind you or I front of you while listening? To do the install right a separate amplifier and speakers would be ideal.

Don't think this has anything to do with a front stage

Under the hood, behind the grille tells me he's planning on using it to hear the movies outside of the vehicle or something like that.  I don't understand the point past that though as if it were me I'd just disable the interior lights, back into the parking space and open the doors if I were going to sit outside the vehicle in lawn chairs or something like that to watch the movie.

I'm also trying to understand why Nick is so against a switch to the speaker though.  I mean, in a higher powered configuration it wouldn't be good to switch it with the volume turned up, but otherwise I don't see the issue.

yea me and my friends usually sit on law chairs in front of the cars

nobody wants 2 sit behind the car, we want to see the movie not a spoiler

and our drive in audio is all done through a radio AM station

I can't have the doors open with the key in the ignition without hearing the bell

Thanks for help

and Mustang guy too

I'm sure that's all i will get and now it will turn into a shitstorm

attention nolifers:

why i want to put a speaker outside my car

and the specifics about how we do it at our drive in should not be questions

u trolls should be posting here

i am asking about using a DECENT kill switch for a speaker

if you do not know ANYTHING

then do not post trying 2 flame my ideas

We use to back our trucks into the drive in parking places to chill in the bed while watching the movies ... They had those small speaker boxes to hang on your window like a Sonic Drive in trey ...

My apologies, I did not know they use AM to broadcast their signals ...

Duh, turn your car around backwards shut off the lights and open the doors. Or you could waste money and do what you propose.

What part of electrical switch can't you figure out? Seems to me you posted this to excite people, not to actually do this. Question is too simple to be real.

what kind of mod don't read the entire thread before posting

you would love if i made topics to troll but sorry you're out of luck today

As for the too "simple a question" argument you have typed....

I looked at some switches at radio shack and almost all had 4-6 inputs on them

Idk if there is some specific switch in the car audio world that people use so excuse me

How about trying to answer the question M5, since it is so simple

just buy a boombox and a shit load of batteries

i wish i never mentioned what it was for but then i would be trolling

don't some show guys have switches they use for when they open the back doors

so they don't drive around with speakers playing that are not in the cabin?
