Posted May 1, 201312 yr Is there a good way to fix a broken basket of a 12 zcon. . Its broke where the spokes connect to the top ring. . 4 of them are broke. But sub works perfect. . . . Really don't want to have to recone. . . Is this able to be welded? Without messing up surround or anything

May 1, 201312 yr Author What a crappy place for a basket to break. I think you will have to recone. I know. It sucks.. already been waiting over 2 months for my recone for my other motor. I really cant wait that much longer for another one ... trying to get my new build done. . Iv already missed 3 comps

May 1, 201312 yr Author Don't think I could like spot weld it or something? I know ill need a new one eventually but just wanna try to make it last a little. . It lasted months with jb weld. Just seeing if there was something that would work better
May 1, 201312 yr Author Since when do re-cones come with new baskets? They don't but will need a recone if I put a new basket on
May 1, 201312 yr I think you will need a new basket. You could try a small tack weld, but i'm not too sure how that will work out for you.
May 1, 201312 yr What you're going to have the most trouble with is keeping the top ring completely level. I would sand it all the way down before attempting anything.
May 1, 201312 yr The basket is aluminum, it isn't going to be easy to weld. You need a new basket and recone.
