I picked up a 2nd battery today. Wired it + from the front battery to positive on the back battery, Then positive from the back battery to + on the amp. Then with the front battery negative disconnected I connected negative from the back battery to ground on the amp. So with the car being shut off and the front battery negative disconnected my amp is on, I basically have constant power? What am I doing wrong? Do I have to connect both front and back grounds to complete a loop or what? Is there any chance of blowing my amp or anything else by trying it? My remote wire for the amp is hooked up to the deck n I jus don't get why my amp is constantly on when the front isn't hookd up. Helllpppp!!!

So just to confirm

You have the front battery positive terminal wired in parallel to the rear battery's positive terminal

The rear battery ground wire to the amp

The hu remote (blue wire) wired to the remote turn on on the amp

And your amp is always on regardless the state of the head unit?

First disconnect the blue remote from the amp. Does it stay on or go off?

If you disconnect the blue wire (remote) from the amp and it turns off you have a faulty head unit or some how you wired 12vdc to the remote write behind the head unit

If you pull the remote from the amp and it stays on sends the amp for repair there is power jumped internally some how

Is it an issue to leave the amp on all the time? I don't see an issue but I would not recommend it. If the head unit is faulty and always sending 12vdc though the remote wire and you don't want to send it for repair the quick fix is to wire in a relay (with the cars red wire from the harness and the remote to the common and the amp to the NO contact) or a simple 12v switch

Car off as in key in ignition or completely out of the ignition? When you say front battery negative not connected, do you mean not connected to rear battery or not connected at all anywhere under the hood? How is the rear battery grounded at the moment? What all did you do before adding second battery, retrace your steps.

Sorry yall, I figured it out. Think there was a tiny frayed wire touching + to remote cus I cleaned it n made sure nothing was touching n it was fine then. Don't get me wrong the installs clean. Idk it was a crazy mishap I guess. Didn't have money for 2 new agms so I jus got a big deep cycle. Only running 2k but it didn't help much. Guess a ho alternator is a must? Heard singers r good n cheaper than mechman/dc power... Any links? Really don't have $500 for an alt...

If the the battery is not grounded, as I believe it's not by the way the post was written then you are only running off the rear battery.  This would be a reason you aren't seeing a difference

Well yea I had the front disconnected while hooking the rear up. I hooked it back up last. I'm not straight retarded lol

How many amps does your alternator put out?

Also is that deep cycle inside the trunk or under the hood?

Do you have the rear battery grounded to the chassis also?

Stock alt is 130a, deep cycle is in the trunk, and it is grounded to the chassis with 0g knu cca. This morning it was reading 14.4, seems to be helping a little. I'm going to keep it and save for the 185a dc power alt or possibly a 200a singer

Good luck!

I know my mechman 300 amp alternator sure helped.
