Posted October 30, 201311 yr Is it better to install the tweeters in the dash or somewhere else? For a component set of speakers.
October 30, 201311 yr Need way more details than that. Dome material, FR, how low you're crossing them over, intended application, etc will play a factor.
October 30, 201311 yr Play with locations in YOUR vehicle every car/tweeter/crossover point combo will be different and you are the only one that can judge what you will like. Use sticky tack or double sided tape and move them around.
October 30, 201311 yr Author They are crescendo cz-6.5 comps with silk dome tweeters. I will be using the passive crossovers that came with them. Factory location are in the dash.
October 30, 201311 yr Some people lik there tweeters down in the door next to their mid driver, while others enjoy the sails or a-pillars if that's what you meant by the dash. Just like anything in car audio testing will be your best friend.

October 30, 201311 yr Another question is what fabrication do you wanna do? If none then on the dash were the factory tweets are would be your only choice.
October 30, 201311 yr Author Another question is what fabrication do you wanna do? Which is the dash.
October 30, 201311 yr Do what ricksi30 suggested and place the speakers in the spots your willing to mount them and see what spot you like best. Then install them

October 30, 201311 yr The only generic answer is to get them as close to the woofers as possible, as far from your ears as possible, up as high as possible, as equal distant as possible, and away from all reflecting planes. In a car the above is not possible so then it comes down to compromises. Your car will determine the compromises, but compromising on the least of the above is a good starting point.

October 30, 201311 yr Passive I've never had luck separating the tweeter from the mid. Aside from that the sail panels/a-pillars are about the worst thing you can do to a speaker.....too many reflective surfaces.
October 31, 201311 yr Likewise. Tricky even active, but then you have ways around or to at least massage the other compromises.
