Posted May 10, 200619 yr i have this amp to power my rl-i10 : http://highlite.omc.net/index.php/highlite...s/p_500_vintage. do you think it would be a good match with the sub ? my system plays 90% of the time only music. i watch movies very rarely...
May 11, 200619 yr Author Id be more worried about the fan loudness than the poweroh, well, you win some, you loose some. at least it's got the power i need
May 17, 200619 yr Author my rl-i10 should be here in about 3 weeks. thanks mike !what would you guys reccomend as a 'starter' box for the rl-i ?i'm thinking about 0.21 cf sealed...i'm wondering wether to go with 1inch mdf or 3/4inch particle board (i have some left-overs from previous 'projects') ? May 17, 200619 yr Admin 3/4" MDF is fine, I have not tried the RL-i sealed. That seems like a small box, but people have never had a complaint about the RL-i regardless of box.
May 17, 200619 yr IMO, i'd do at least .5ft^3 with that power. i've got my 8 rl-i in .17ft^3 and it does a great job off a lot less power, but there is so much more in it. it was awesome in 1.25ft^3 tuned to 36hz! 500wrms on the rl-i is perfect power. that should be sweet little combo.build the box big, say .75ft^3 net and slug it down to .21ft^3 and play with the volume a bit. see where you like it best.3/4" mdf FTW!wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
May 17, 200619 yr Author i'm worried about panel flex. the box i currently own is made out of 3/4" particle board, and one of the panels (13"/13") flexes...i've though about sealed until it breaks in...after sealed, i've though about putting it in this : http://www.decware.com/newsite/dbk10.htmsounds sweet with an infinity ref1040w in it.1" mdf = overkill ? not worth the extra $$ ? i've already calculated all the panels. i'm going to buy the mdf pre-cut from the shop. the shop charges .15$/m for cutting. May 17, 200619 yr MDF is MUCH stronger than PB.You will not have any issues with flex with 3/4" MDF in the size of enclosure, and power level you are using.
