Mechman 270 installed in a 07 nissan frontier. Is it normal for these alts to whine? It sounds like alt whine that you would hear coming through someones speakers,but, its coming from the alt itself. Alt is working great otherwise.

Check yout belt, may be loose. How long has this issue been happening, did you just install this alternator?

Make a video and contact mechman.  Send them video if they need it.

So i guess the alt should be completely silent?

Most brand new Alt whine a lil.  the bearing and all have to wear in.  But you shouldn't hear it with the hood closed- or from the drivers seat.  It is impossible for us to 'guess' whether it is normal of not without hearing it in person.

I've seen belts that are too small cause load on the bearings and cause excessive wear making that noise. I'd contact Mechman just like you're doing and make sure you don't need a different size belt for your application.
