I wouldn't run CCA wire period, straight welding cable and OFC wire all day. Don't skimp on the electrical at all, it is the main focus point on an install. CCA wire gets hotter quicker than OFC wire and can corrode easier. Does everybody have problems with CCA wire, no but why risk it.

Im pretty sure you could read anything on the internet where stuff contradicts what some know to be true. Some people hear things and believe it so they put it on the web, it's the internet so it has to be true.

yes sir.  there a million topics and none are the same.  but the good points i see are "you have 2 grand +/- in electronics... why skimp on less than 100 $ in wire?"

its the same as i have now.... thats why i am making sure it is still my best choice.

another ssd is going to fail on you again. if you're sticking with that enclosure than you need to find another sub that can handle what you're asking it to do.

This exactly! If you're on facebook look up Electron Beam Technologies. They sell nice welding cable. If you don't want to pay shipping just go to a local shop and pick some up.

Why don't you just order a recone for your sub you already have?

please tell me where i am wrong, but a sealed enclosure with the correct air space ... where is the problem? i just dont want to change the mounting diameter hole.

  • Author

i know that my previous air space is was caused my initial failure but i have since reduced the internal volume to .4   need this be corrected?

  Rms: 1000W Sealed box: H-Qts .2-.4 cuft Ported box: .6-1.2 cuft @ 33Hz

i just want to make sure we are on the same page. after all, my purpouse here is to edjucate myself and learn from my mistakes.

The problem is your bass desires and the potential output of your setup don't jive together. Nothing is going to make you happy. If you are okay with less bass then carry on, if you want what you tried to achieve it will fail again.

i guess you are misreading me. i am not unhappy with the output of the SSD 10' .

i am not bass hungry, and i actually enjoy my highs more than anything. i have a bed in the back of my 4 door truck instead of rear seats. this is my only option for an enclosure.

i dont see why you see me as being limited and unhappy????????????

i already stated the changes i would make as far as electrical and enclosure space being reduced.

what would you do? go with a diffrent sub all together? i have made it clear that i am open for other reccomendations and money is not an issue. but i am here to find out what is the best for me.

You've managed to kill the driver three times already by pushing it past it's limits. You need another setup with the same output within it's working limits, sort of like saying this car is fast enough for me, and you're driving it at redline. I highly doubt lowering your enclosure volume to Fi's specs will all of a sudden save the driver, it'll probably have less output than before and you'll end up turning it up more to get the same output and you're right back where you started. Depending on your space you might be able to bump up to a ported enclosure, that'll net you a good amount more output so you won't have to be running the driver at max.

A few other points that I'm not sure were mentioned completely, check your vehicle's voltage when playing music and make sure it's not low, if it is then it could screw with the signal from the amp to the driver--I think. I know you're using a sealed enclosure but you might try setting the ssf around 20hz (not sure what you listen to but if it's that dubstep / rap music boosted by people in their garages than that might help control the excursion somewhat). Someone mentioned lowering the LPF to 80hz, that's a good idea and I would even suggest going lower to 50-60hz (try different points and see what sounds best to you).
