Just got my brand new D4800. I would like to know, should I charge the battery before installing it in the car?

Assuming I do need to fully charge it, I dont happen to have a car charger. I read in the documentation included that it needs to be a charged with with a charger that does no more than 2.4v per cell. If I was to take it to Pepboyz or Advanced Auto Parts, how can I make sure they charge it properly?

They make chargers just for agm batteries.

It might be a good idea to buy one.

And yes it should be charged before you install it.

Tell them to properly charge it and if you dont trust them, then cough up the pennies and buy your own charger.

I thought about buying the charger, but buying something for a one time, single use at that price does not seem very reasonable to me. Opinions?

Id rather be prepared then assed out as you currently are. If you buy another xs battery or ever need to charge a battery then you wil have one. Why buy an XS Power battery knowing it needs to be charged? Why not get another brand of batteries? If your in audio then a battery charger is a no brainer but everyone dont think the same. If you cant justify it then dont buy it, it's your money to spend not ours.
