July 27, 200619 yr ^^^^ only sadistic people like you haha <{POST_SNAPBACK}>US Amps are the finest amps ever made. And I stand behind that. They sound better, consistently give more wattage than printed, and the plexiglass thing is cool too. Outside of the 1500DE I torched, the AX1000 and the mystery MLT box, and the 3000DE that died from unique circumstances, I've never had a finer amplifier. And I've tried a few dozen brands. Plus it never shuts off in the Texas heat. And that's a big plus.

July 27, 200619 yr Author so has anyone else had any real world tests with this amp to confirm its ratings? Mine is still in my closet as the car is still being painted. I cant wait to try it out. I will have a 200 amp alt and 3 batteries running it so it should be a beast. I also picked up an ax 600 to run my doors. I cant wait.

So until I get another 3000, I'll be running a pair of AX1500DE.
August 2, 200619 yr The AX3000DE need lots current to produce lots of output. A stock alternator will not cut it. The #1 reason the amplifier goes down is due to them not getting enough current. Any amplifier that can produce over 1000 rms watts needs an upgraded alternator.Audio Designs replaced a Memphis Mojo amp with an AX3000de and got 1 dB more.

My old Boss amp never had a problem. Seriously though, the mandatory alternator upgrade, should be noted somewhere on either the website or owners manual, for the do-it-yourselfer.I still love the amp, but I would have picked up an alternator before hurting my precious.

Sorry you were not better informed. For any amp producing over 1400 or so watts you would need more current than a standard alternator or you will never get the power out of the amp. It takes power to make power.
