I have an i/s 4065 and am debating whether or not to run this for my Z6 comps. It would have to be bridged and that would be at 3ohms...is this possible for the 4ohm stable amp or a definite no-go? Thanks

M5...the Z6 comps from Boston are a 3-ohm nominal resistance set. I'm thinking that if it were 2-ohm it would be a problem...but 3-ohm may let the i/s4065 still be bridged. OR, am I dreaming and there is no way two bridged channels can survive at 3ohms?

This all determines if I will need a new amp or not, so thanks for any advice.

I just had to look 3 ohm impedance is correct, as for resistance I am sure they are lower but that matters not only impedance. I do not have experience with the 4065, if it isn't overated you could have a slight problem. On the same note if you set your gains a bit conservative so you aren't running full power out of it and she doesn't get hot it might be okay. I didn't recommend before though because I am not sure on the I/S's at all.

Thanks M5...seems you are on top of all of my questions lately. Appreciated, especially since I'm a noob.

Anyhow, I'd be interested still to know from someone that has some i/s experience if this is possible...or if I'd be wasting my time. I pm'd Flakko about some new US Amps, but seems he hasn't been online in a few days. I'm waiting on word from him...

So with that, anyone else with info regarding brigded channels at 3-ohm? Thanks!

From my experience, most A/B amplifers that are 4 ohm stereo are stable at 2 ohm stereo. So if you are at 3, I would venture to say you would be ok as long as you stick with what ///M5 mentioned about amplifer care.

correct, my questions is about an i/s4065 BRIDGED. so, this amp states it is only 4 ohm stable on 2 bridged channels...but does anyone suspect I would be ok at 3 ohms?

Denim he is bridging it though....if you weren't bridging I am sure it would be fine.

whoops miss read that one.

Ok, well, unless I get a different amp until the time it's all installed, i'll give it a shot and see what happens! I'll post results... thanks M5
