Posted August 22, 20169 yr my x8's just shut down last night..I checked all wires..amps good..no foul smells from them..no cone scraping sounds...please any advice would help?
August 22, 20169 yr First need to see if it is the subs or the amp: 1) DMM VC 2) Apply another voltage source to the subs (battery can work, audio is better) If those are both okay it is upstream from the subs most likeyl.
August 22, 20169 yr Check and make sure you have sub output from your source unit. Drunk fingers can turn them off by mistake. LOL good luck

August 24, 20169 yr Quick simple way to check for a short on a coil would be a 9v battery on the speaker wires with them disconnected from the amp. Hold the neg. wire to the neg. post on the battery and quickly scratch the pos. wire on the pos. post on the battery, this will cause an audible sound and make the cone move. It's ghetto....but in a pinch it works if you don't have a meter to check for continuity.
