Posted August 25, 200619 yr would it be possibile to run my jl 500/1 to 4 coponents and a set of tweeters. i would have to turn down the gains ,but would it be a good or a bad idea to even try somthing like that.
August 25, 200619 yr Admin that is a mono amplifer and it is not a good idea to use it for a stereo application
August 26, 200619 yr Author What is so bad about doing it. i would like to know for my own knowledge.
August 26, 200619 yr mono amplifiers are designed for subwoofer applications. I would use a class A/B amplifier for your needs.
August 26, 200619 yr A mono only has one channel, and if you did that, you would completely get rid of the left and right side difference.
August 26, 200619 yr if you don't care about stereo sound do it. also, if the 500/1 is a class d, you probably won't hear anything above 500hz. i would be an ideal front stage...
August 27, 200619 yr I highly doubt the 500/1's class D circutry is capeable of producing anything over 500Hz with any sort of decently low THD or dampening factor.
February 26, 200718 yr You wouldnt get the high sounds...the tweets would be VERY quiet. You wouldn't get a stereo sound...the sound would seem to come from a small space in the center of the dash. It's a good thought...but SERIOUSLY would NOT work out in the real world.look to a 450/4 for highpower for mids and highs.
