Posted November 16, 20186 yr Want to build a series-tunes 6th order for a Single Fi Car Audio SSD 18. Not sure where to start I know 6th orders are more complex to design and more of a trial and error build but if I never try it out I will never learn. So of course the goal is to successfully build a 6th order but depending on the final results if it does not meet expectations there will be adjustments. Also if none of the revisions succeed I will fall back on a standard Ported Enclosure . Please if you have any useful information on 6th order designing/building It would be awesome if you can share them with me . Thanks in advance max dimension - height 30” - depth 21” - width 38”
November 16, 20186 yr Just stick with a simple vented enclosure. The bandpass is nothing but a mechanical filter. I'm sure you amplifier already has this, so there's just no nerd. Granted, the enclosure will have increase efficiency within it's limited bandwidth, but again your amplifier probably has a bass boost feature which will accomplish the same feat.
November 16, 20186 yr Admin My worry is about available space. Yes, I can understand the desire to build something interesting and different. I went through a stage of doing T-lines for 8's.
November 17, 20186 yr Author The only knowledge I have about designing 6th orders is that the first chamber should be for the lower frequencies and the second chamber for the higher .. i just don’t know what frequency to tune the chambers at
November 17, 20186 yr Are you prepared to build more than 1 enclosure to get it right? In particular for zero gain over a box you can build in one try? No way, no how should you even try if you don't understand the math yourself....

November 17, 20186 yr No offence dude. But have you tried any online calculators? http://www.mh-audio.nl/Bandpass.asp http://www.carstereo.com/help/Articles.cfm?id=32 THose where just the first two that popped up on google... with the search term "sixth-order bandpass subwoofer enclosure design calculator" I'm definitely one of those guys that when others say "why?", I say why not!" So I'm all for you giving it a crack. I've never done a 6th order, but have played with 4th's. Was hard not to if you where around in the 90's. lol
