I'm sick of my mediocre system, and its only been about 3 weeks.

My DD m1 did eventually turn on, but is emitting a lot of rf noise. So yay for new amp.

I am looking for 1200-1500 watts @ 1 ohm. My budget is 600 dollars. To power a 15" Q.

Current prospect amps:

Electrical Upgrades:

None yet.

eventually a 180 amp excessive amperage alt and a kinetik power-cell.

Power wire is currently 4 gauge with a 150 amp mini anl fuse 8" from the battery.

Big 3 is not done yet, it has been too damn cold.

The internal Box dimensions will be:

14" tall x 20" deep x 26" wide.

48 sq inches of port (4"x12") 25 inches long

Box will be constructed out of 3/4 side panels and 1" top and bottom panels with 2" wooden dowels for bracing. Sub facing up, port forward.

Tuned to 32.x hz.

Going in the trunk of a 98 Neon.

Audio Neon instead of the xt series go one up to the merlin or ax series (you can pm if you got any questions).... You can get the md.2d (1500 watts) for close to even under 500 bucks brand new full warranty. It is ces rated and actually been tested to put out a little close to 1800 watts.....

That is the CHEAPEST you will find on the net unless you have someone that can get them at cost.

I would CERTAINLY upgrade the power wire

knuconcepts has some good 1/0 for 1.75 bucks (for daily)

if competing then look at their Kolossus (the KLM is Copper Clad Aluminum (CCA) is made up of 90% Aluminum and 10% Copper. Consisting of 5145 Strands of CCA... because of this there will be like a .03 resistance or something small like that depending on the run)

where can i get a merlin for around 500? i think that they are solid amps. and would love a md2d but i think it would be a little overkill on the Q, which is only rated for 1000 watts rms.

I got my md.1d (1,000 watts but was ces rated and tested to put out 1050 watts) for under 500 full warranty

My cousin is into building his cars up for racing (my other cousin not the car audio fanatic)

he went through 4 alternators from EA and eventually lost $600 bucks (he is also a lead mechanic for Acura here in Hawaii so he isn't some newb under the hood)...

I told him about Dom and his alternator hasn't failed him yet (Dom owns/makes iraggi alternators).....

Have you thought about the RF T10001bd? I've heard its a great sub, and it could easily get you a nice 1500 watts.

As for the Rockford amps, never been a big fan. Love the smaller names in audio.
