Posted March 21, 200718 yr Im sick of changing my mind lol..Basiclly, I found someone else with the same jeep as me and he says that side firing is the best for ours because the port needs room to load, and it doesn't have the room it needs firing directly into the rear hatch.Any truth to that? How much of a difference is it going to make going from 6 cubes with 96sq/in of port area to 8 cubes with 128 Sq/in of port area? Can someone help me design the box. I mean I have the basic design down, But I need to know how to do the port. Cause I am lost.
March 21, 200718 yr Are you talking a fart box? Its a good possibilty.Daily driving..i wouldn't side fire it.
March 21, 200718 yr Author nope its a DD box. His is and mine will be as well.So what do you suggest and why(I cant just let things be, I need to know how they work lol)
March 21, 200718 yr Umm...most jeeps i fooled with (hardbody's) typically like port and sub both firing back..but that was in meca outlaw spl as well..I wouldn't fool with side firing...only thing that is going to accomplish is your quarterpanel vibrating
March 21, 200718 yr Author Well this is a Jeep WJ(Grand Cherokee)So the whole issue of needing room to "load" is BS? I mean with it firing back, its going to be about an Inch of space if that between port and door...
March 21, 200718 yr Well in that case why not fire the sub(s) up and port back?Side firing really isnt optimal for daily driving, it may turn better numbers though.
March 21, 200718 yr Author thats what im talking about. Sub up port back...the port will be ok like that? And yeah im looking to score higher...but will it hurt me in other ways
March 21, 200718 yr thats what im talking about. Sub up port back...the port will be ok like that? And yeah im looking to score higher...but will it hurt me in other waysI know it's not the same truck, but in my s10 blazer I tryed it everyway possible (sub/port combo), lol. Sub up port back gave me the best #'s and sound with minimal rattling.
March 21, 200718 yr Author Thanks, that is what I planned on doing untill i read about the Port load...So having the port only an inch away from a wall....is ok?
March 22, 200718 yr Author Anyone else?????Port area...Will going bigger be better?1000w on the 18...should i go to the full 16in per cube?
March 23, 200718 yr I don't think putting the port that close to the rear wall is a good thing, but would anyone with more experience in that area chime in? I was considering doing this in order to get more cuft in my yukon, but was told something about it being negative, I would reference before but I believe it was lost.
