Posted March 25, 200718 yr ok what well be better ether ther 2 12 will get 1000 to each or 1200 to the 1 18 both in good boxes
March 25, 200718 yr the 12's would be louder, but the 18 will hit low notes with more authority, but personally i would stick with the 12's unless you have a really solid mid-bass up front.
March 25, 200718 yr By better do you mean spl or sq?Is there a way you could give one sub that 2kw?Is space an issue- because you will need more space to make that 1 18 happy than the 2 12s.Have you definitely narrowed it down to the q, or are you open to the bl?
March 25, 200718 yr Author the q is all i can do with what i have i have 2 1000 watt amps and not geting any diff stuff
March 25, 200718 yr Can you strap those to give a BL 2000watts?Truthfully I love my 18s so much the only reason I'd go down is if space is an issue- so I'm biased.
March 25, 200718 yr the two 12's will move a bit more air (based in theory off of cone area)....I do believe the 18 will sound louder and can get LOWER then the 2 12's Given many factors though (enclosure of course and car ergonomics)

March 25, 200718 yr Author what about 1200 to a bl is that good or do u need more power and what options should i get
March 25, 200718 yr petey,A sub can play at any wattage under it's rated rms...People think that when they put little watts to a sub and the sub tends to "flutter" or "bottom out" they immediately think oh it's the sub... and in the case of underpowering they all say "You need more watts to the thing" for the WRONG reasons...There are many factors to why a sub "sounds" the way thy do given a lower wattage and almost 80% of the time it is due to clipping (the amplifier).... other factors is amplifier efficiency, sub woofer efficiency, enclosure and the cars electrical.WIll it handle it's 1200 watts being that it may be under RMS the answer is OF COURSE it willIt may even suprise you (referring to comments like "they are loud and people think i have 15's when i have 12's are all testimonies of the subs efficiency)I myself did direct swamps with JLw6 and noticed the Fi played much louder at the same volume levelIn part it is due to the subs efficiency)..Now will it be loud enough for you Only you can answer that question.see if someone with an Fi can demo for younote their wattage and sub size and then draw a conclusion based on you ear...What is loud to ou may not be loud to someone like tej or tpjrthe main point is you want a volume that will keep you satisfied to avoid the humans nature to "turn it up" forcing the amp to clip.... The Fi subs can take it without a doubt, but even superman had a weakness... Edited March 25, 200718 yr by theabunai
