sounds like a very nice idea. and use it not only for mid-bass but also sub-bass.

only downside is that it's not small and not light. there aren't many doors that can handle this bugger

They don't play high enough to do that.

The RL-i 8 is a subwoofer, not a midbass.

If by tweets you mean a 2-3" full range driver you might be able to pull it off, but your door won't support the Rli8. Really.

not a good idea. they are a true subwoofer. maybe you can pull it off to a degree, but i doubt they'll shine.

and like previously mentioned, at 19pds each, they aren't lightweights. your doors will hate you, lol.

Will the rli'8 play flat to 1000hz? 500?

No, as noted these are not midbass drivers, they are subwoofers and are designed to hit the low lows!

I would recommend crossing over no higher than 120 Hz, and in my personal opinion, 80 Hz 'n down for optimal performance.
