Posted May 6, 200718 yr What kind of current draws can I expect from the 1500D and the 100.2? I see that the combined fuse rating is 220 amps, but I assume this is under extreme situations. I have been considering incorporating both in my new system, but I only have a 130 amp alt. I really don't want to replace it if I can get away with it.The 1500D would be powering a Q 15 more than likely. Does anybody have any experience running this sub/amp combo? How about the same sub with a 1000D?
May 7, 200718 yr run a 12" q and 1000D, at first when my alt wasnt being toasted 80amps but it was 12 years old sooooo... it was amazing. loud, low, sounded great. doubt the 15" q would need a 1500D a solid 1000 watts from a sae-1000D is plenty but then again i plan on adding another sae-1000D which i bought tonight sooooooo breathing room is always nice. plan is 2 amps bridged at 4 ohms.... making 1300 or so. eventually drop q and go mx or xxx or possibly some AA loving but definately think sae-1000D is right route to go at first. until u see ur circumstances. then if u want add another sae-1000D or drop one u have and buy the 1500D.Mike-
May 7, 200718 yr With a 80 amp alt in my neon, lets just say that my car CAN NOT keep up with one saz-1500D @ 1 ohm with test tones at maximum unclipped volume. Now with music it can handle it, but with voltage dipping down into the low 11 volt range on hard hits.
May 7, 200718 yr I have 2 1500D's strapped and a 100.4 all hooked up eventually with 6 runs total of 1/0 (3pos 3neg) to a kinetik 2400 in the back and a 130amp alt and though only 1 pos run and 1 neg run are hooked up at the moment and no big 3 yet there is no dimming or drops no matter how hard I pound on it, so I'm pretty happy. Adding a battery will definetly help if you run into any issues. I have the wire sitting here to do my big 3 and I just need a couple more fuse holders to hook the rest of my runs up. When I can afford it I'll put in a HO alt. Edited May 7, 200718 yr by Fixxer
May 7, 200718 yr Author With a 80 amp alt in my neon, lets just say that my car CAN NOT keep up with one saz-1500D @ 1 ohm with test tones at maximum unclipped volume. Now with music it can handle it, but with voltage dipping down into the low 11 volt range on hard hits.As of right now, I only plan on running this system for music only. I think I could get away with the 1500D on the Q with my electrical because I would never run it fill tilt, or at least not constantly. My concern is when I add in the second amp, thats where I will run into more trouble. I guess I should at least give the 1000D some real thought. Really I just want this system to sound real clean for everyday listening, but be able to get super loud for show off sessions or just to fill my summer time bass cravings. Thanks for the help guys.
May 7, 200718 yr make no mistake, i also have a four channel running as well, that runs the same amount of fuses (although rated at less power). I am also doing all of this on a alt that is nearly a decade old.
