i entered my first ever bass race comp with my new system. loaded 15" BTL on an MA Audio hk4000d in a 4 cubes box tuned to 34hz playing "air forces". i qualified with a 139.8 in the 130-139.9 class. i went over the 140 mark and hit 141 for a bit, but had to drop it down to avoid getting put in the 140 class. however, i got eliminated in the first round by someone with a lot more experience, i only lost by .2 db's because i was at 139.9 with a few seconds left and had to drop it down fast so not to break over the 140 mark and risk getting DQ'd. i ended with a 139.6. sad thing is that i had the guy beat the entire time until the last few seconds. there is another comp coming up in june, another in july, and a last in august that im going to enter.

thank you, too bad i didnt bring home the win. being that it was my first time ever doing bass race i think i did well. it was the splmax show at advance mobile toys in cuyahoga falls, ohio.

Hey do you live in cuyahoga falls or city close to there. I think i live near you

yep, i live in hudson, youre prob close. there are some comps coming up in brook park that ill be going to in june, july, and august depending on my work schedule.

Congrats... just a matter of practice to get spot on with the delay/go as weell as knowing how to roll back or kick it up a notch and when to hit the magic .9 mark. Do you have access to a meter to practice with? Talk to Shawn or tprj about all the little things you need to do for bassrace. They definitely know their stuff.

Thanks...

Scott

thanks scott. well, im going to call some local places that have term labs to see if theyll let me have some time on theirs. i know that i can easily hang in the 130-139.9 class, its just i need more experience. i might hit shawn up to get some tips from him. thanks again scott.

good job!

best thing to do is to make friends with someone that has a termlab and practice as much as you can. I did 129.9 class last season and did very well - one thing I liked to do was get to a 129.5-129.7 (or 139.5-139.7) as fast as possible. A lot of times when the other guy would see my number climbing so fast he would get worried and just crank his volume up and then break out. Try to hold that 139.5 until about 10 sec left, then hold 139.7 until about 5 sec, then up a click to 139.9 with about 1-2 sec left. This worked pretty well for me, though it took some practice. Give it a try and let me know how it goes.

Bass race is addicting by the way, its a ton of fun and real crowd pleaser! I can't stand not going to comps on the weekend lol. I'm doing the 149.9 class this season.

Good Luck and have fun

thank you for the advice! the only problem is that there isnt anyone around here, besides shops, that have term labs. so what i might do is slip a shop some money to practice on it once in a while.

its very addicting to say the least. im already hooked.
