What do you guys think? One Fi/SX 12 hybrid or 2 SSD 12's. The amp is a elemental designs nine.1. Box size would be about 3 cubic feet.

I have to vote in favor of the pair of SSDs... not that I am trying to push a sale on you... but those subs are far too close in lineage to not vote that way.

Did some rework on the motor you have as well. Hopefully youll be happy with this one.

Thanks,

Scott

well Thats probably whats going to happen and Im gonna sell the hybrid to a kid from my hometown whos looking into a new system.

Scott, do you think 3 cubes is enough? The box will be ported. Any suggestions?

3 cuft is small... if you had the copper coils, it would help size wise and you could squeeze them into 3cuft tuned to 32 Hz. If you can get a little more space, things will extend deeper or play louder overall.

Thanks,

Scott

I'm glad you said that because the ones im buying do have the copper coils. And I think with a little creativity I should be able to get a little more than 3 cubic foot. Its gonna be a center console box so the only thing im really worried about is cupholders. my current console setup doesnt have them but I lost a lot of cubic foot to do my 7.2" monitor mount. When I finish the design in google sketchup Ill post a pic to see what you think.

Does a downfiring ported box = a bad idea? It would be both subs down port firing up toward front of truck. Im trying to think about all the different ways of mounting the subs in my truck.

I just realized those are D2 subs which mean I can only get a 2 ohm load. Thats gonna mean only around 500W a piece. Dammit, what to do, what to do?

Nope.

Nothing that says you have to run at the driver's listed RMS rating...

can't you get them in a dual 1?? that would solve that prblem.

Thanks Captain Obvious, jk. I understand that they offer them in dual 1 ohm but i wasnt buying them new. theabunai is selling his and they are dual 2.

Im sure I'll still buy them and instead of selling my hybrid, i could just sell the ssd's if i dont like the way they sound on my amp. I guess we'll see which sounds the best later.
