Posted June 14, 200718 yr I have set a budget for $150 per sub...... I am really wanting at least 12's. And I need some input on which subs within this price range will have the best bang the buck. I was looking at the Alpine SWR-1222D as a possible candidate. But that was purely just a suggestion for myself. After I figure out what subs I want to get I will try and figure out what amp will push them the best. Thanks in Advance.~MadroX
June 14, 200718 yr The Sundown woofer might be a good choice in that price range.Creative Sound Solutions in Canada has a bunch of stuff in the under $150 class too.
June 14, 200718 yr Admin Like Jim mentioned the new Sundown SD-1's would be a good idea to look at. They don't need a ton of power and are efficient. The Mach5 MAW-12 has to be mentioned in a lower cost install, lot of sub for the money.
June 14, 200718 yr Author do the sundown's pickup good low's? I like deep bass.... I see that the sundown's have dual 8 ohm vc's. 8 ohm isnt all that good last I recall? not sure? Edited June 14, 200718 yr by Madrox
June 14, 200718 yr Admin Nothing wrong with 8 ohm coils. Only difference is they present a different resistance on the amplifier.
June 14, 200718 yr 8 ohm isnt all that good last I recall? not sure?Don't really see why it would be, as long as your amp produces enough power at that impedance...
June 14, 200718 yr Author That's going to be enclosure dependent...What enclosure would u recommend for those subs?
June 14, 200718 yr I don't have any personal experience with them yet, Jake from Sundown would be the one to ask...I'm guessing he knows a thing or two about 'em
June 14, 200718 yr Admin As stated on the shop per Jacob:Enclosure recommendation is:0.75 - 1.0 ft^3 sealed on the 12"1.75 - 2.25 ft^3 @ 30 - 35 Hz Ported on the 12"
June 14, 200718 yr Author O sorry about that..... I live in the south..... Any count means is it any good.

June 15, 200718 yr All of those seem like you're shopping at Best Buy...not the greatest values there.

June 15, 200718 yr There is an SX15 over on CSo that needs a recone. You can get recones for around 70ish. That takes you to 140. There ya go!
June 17, 200718 yr I like the idea of the SSD 15s...but I have 0 experience with the maw.I have experience with their BL and BTL line, and I'm about to get an SSD 18 if the new h/t setup still needs more bass- could give you a review in a few weeks. If you check the classifieds I believe someone had two FI SSD 12s for sale a week or two ago.I live in SC-never heard that. How far south are we talking jethro (j/k)My uncle is really country, I had to stay with him, and spelled phonetically this is what he told me:"get yourself a knife from out'n the shed and cut yourself some oaktree".. I was like wtf? you expect me to cut a tree with a knife?found out then that oaktree means okra, and teeth are an option *edit- forgot to mention he owns a farm-so we were heading to his fields to cut okra/feed the cows lol...
