wow this suck's dropped in my second 3000'd strapped @ 1ohm and only gained 1 db so now I'm doing a 151.7 wish i knew were my lost db went i would be up to 152.7. anyway's lot's-o-work ahead now

Hmmm... so you are at around 4kw or so per sub now then eh? Might be reaching the limits of that sub at your burp frequency, what frequency are you burping at? I know that we can hit x-max on my brother's 9510s at anything but dead at tuning ~51 Hz on a 1500D at 1/2 ohm.

i'm burping @ 53 hrtz. thing is with a z1 @ 1/4 ohm i did a 152.2 so i was thinkig I'm getting a little more then 4400 watts out of these 2 3000's. i was wondering if my note would change with more power?I did a few test burp's and 53 is still the loudest. going to work on it later today. and see what happen's

How much port area do you have? It's pretty obvious that you have a stack of power on tap, the only things remaining are thermal compression, mechanical compression, port compression, or perhaps even box placement.

You have posted it in pieces before... but can you run down the whole setup in one place? Maybe with pics as well. Perhaps someone will notice something :)

well it an 89 si. the box's are .98 cub each with 6" aeroport mounted external 20" long.tuned around 56 hrtz playing @ 53 hrtz woofer's forward. nothiong special about the box's just rounded ext corner's, 4 run's of 0gauge from a nsb-90. no matte in the car. the rear seam's are taped off.the car has good seal's in the door's.the rear speaker's are blocked with a peice of masonite.before the 2nd amp went in the car did a 150.7 after the the 2nd amp it did 151.7 was the highest.I going to try a box that ray told me about and see how it hang's

Indeed, I'm sure that Ray's suggestions will help alot. To me... it sounds like you are out of port area. I believe that other guys running that much power use bigger ports. It looked like the last CRX that I saw like yours had 8" custom glassed aeroports... Terry Brooks I believe? I could be wrong... but they did look huge. Of course... Ray knows spl in a CRX more than me, so go with what he says ;)

Maybe even lack of current... tried anything other than the NSB-90 in there? Maybe one of the large Batcap batteries if they are legal? Have heard good things about those.

I also heard that the new powermaster batteries are pretty beastly and they aren't tooo expensive. I just picked up a hc-2400. As I already have major voltage issues with 1500d's. I have a feeling that the 3000d's are a completely different beast to power.

well with 2 8" port's that will take my tuning out the roof like 70+ hrtz with that size of a box

ok changed the port length from 20" -18" and did the same number @ the same 53 hrtz that I alway's play and i tested from 45-65 hrtz

You may be losing SPL due to your increase in power and just simply need to start sound deaning your vehicle...

just a thought but im a noob and I learn from Ray aka Team Man Up I believe his SN is on here.

ok update battery @ 13.8 burp it voltage droped to 11.6 and only did a 150.1.and yesterday i had it doing a 151.7.

Electrical system aint gonna help him.

Since it seems hes doin street a.

Its car off anyways.

But your tuning does seem a little wacked up. Your tuning higher than your peak?

It also seems your subs might be gettin weak?

Not touching teh car and losing, aint really normal.

But you also have alot of things to factor. Heat, humidaity, and stuff like that.

  • Author

I don't think the sub's got weak overnight. the box is tuned around 58 hrtz and i play @ 53 hrtz. I have went from 22" port's down to 15" port's and were it is posted the best number's.

I'm going to try hooking up one of my big batt's that float @ 14.5 volt's and see what happen's. then it's a new box design using one big port common chamber box.

ray is a wizard of sorts.

what is port compression? and how can it be calculated / estimated?

thanks
