  1. Actually if you use wood glue, it will bond the joint together and that will actually be stronger than the wood itself. The wood will break before the bond will fail. I use screws as a clamp only. Somtimes I remove them after the glue has cured, other times I just cover the heads with wood putty. Either way, if you build it CORRECTLY, you should have no problems with any driver tearing the enclosure apart.

  2. I, personally don't agree with this. Certain companies have their own forum, so the whole place is kinda like a home for the fans. You start mixin stuff up and people can be a*sholes and I don't want to see that happen here. There are a lot of Adire Fans over at CAT, and they are all very cool, but I feel once you start mixing everyone together and immature people come along, it can get ugly. It would be Koo, no doubt, but I just don't think it would work to well. Especially when you get the, "what's better, Magnum or Brahma?" thread.

  3. No...you just beat the living snot out of them....

Just like my women. I give them all they can take and then some!! Hell, the Magnum is gonna have the easiest time out of all the components.

  4. You got it. I originally had planned to use the Kicker RMB8s in the doors. Then I got ahold of 3 pairs of Vifa PLs, so I built custom vented enclosures for the doors. I ended up not liking them however, so here I am with 1 pair of RMB8s sitting around, and thought I'd go a little crazy and get another pair. I can't really say enough about these Kickers. A lot of people say Kickers don't sound good, but these puppies put out some punch down to around 30Hz in car, running IB in the door. I hooked my first pair up fullrange and they took all the 300 watts I was giving them.. I am really happy with their performance.

  5. Well, Duke lost tonight. MAryland, and NC State look really hot. I really don't think St. Josephs will make it past the sweet 16. If they get a tough seed, they may not make it out of the first round. ACC seems to be the way to go. We'll see when the pairings come out.

  6. Now I hope you're not just doing this out on the street or in some parking lot. Not to be preaching, but if you are, that's pretty irresponsible, or stupid none-the-less, and you should be happy that's all that happened. Let's be safe out there guys! B)

  7. Here are a few pics of the baffle so far. This will be suspended just below the deck and will fire through the cut-outs for the 6x9s. I still have to stretch some fleece and glass and bondo though.

  8. All of you IB guys show up now after we've made already made a lot of drivers.  Why couldn't you have shown up earlier?

I have always had an affection for IB. I had my car set up for some smaller drivers of a different company, you could say I had an eVirus :P , but now things have changed. I have listened to Clarke just hype the hell out of the Mags for quite a while now, so the opportunity was presented and here I am. Hopefully, Nick, you will come out with some other drivers and I can be lucky enough to try those too. I just hope this thing will satisfy me. I don't see why it will not, especially with 4 8s in the doors picking up the midbass chores.

Now hurry up and get shipping!! J/K! :D

  9. Density is the key in enclosure material. MDF is quite dense and inexpensive. If you are intent on using plywood, I would suggest birch ply for strength and density, but this is rather expensive, around $40 a sheet depending on location. Hence the widespread use of MDF.

  10. The Infrasonic (subsonic) filter IS a high pass filter.

Okay here is an example. You take your multi-channel amp and turn the high pass filter on. Let's say this filter is set at 80Hz. Now everything from there up will be heard through the drivers, but nothing below 80. The infrasonic is the same thing. It will block frequencies below a set point to avoid dmamging the driver. When you play a driver in a vented enclosure you run the risk of losing cone control if playing frequencies below the tuning. Now I have never had this problem with any driver just playing normal music. But that does not mean you will not. Test tones are a different story. I myself like to tune my enclosures as low as possible, so this is never really a problem for me, but a lot of the common pre-fab boxes are tuned rather high (35-40Hz), and you can damage the driver playing them below tuning.

So, if you have a Magnum D2 in a 4 cube enclosure tuned to 30Hz, you would set your infrasonic around that point to avoid playing anything below 30.

This is not something that is a necessity for all applications, but rather a precautionary measure.

Now about that flux capacitor....................
