  1. I have 2 10" older RE SE with the 12 spoke baskets and will be building 2 sealed boxes for them. Its going in a 300zx twin turbo and so i want one in each corner. (I know one box is easier and better but i need room for t tops etc.) wondering if the enclosure recommendations of .4 compact and .65 optimal for the new ones would be a decent guideline or if anyone knows the recommended specs for these models.
  2. Light dimming is not always a sign of low voltage although it is often a telltale sign. Some headlights are very sensitive to any voltage draw and even though voltage is quite stable E the extreme draw of a system can cause dimming. That said in your case knowing how you have the subs wired to the amp (ohm load) would give some insight on power you are running. If you are running that amp at 2 or 1 ohm you Are for sure at the max of your 8 gauge power wire, even 4 ohms might be pushing it on 8 gauge for that amp. Another issue I see with your system is the miss matched subs which will cause wiring issues and also sound like crap compared to one sub in a proper box.
  3. Hi, so I'm in the process of fixing up my 300zx twin turbo and am figuring out designs for sub boxes and want some advice on configurations etc. I have two re se10s I was thinking of using or Incriminator i10s on around 150rms a peice (keeping power low to avoid having to upgrade electrical and going more for sound quality over getting loud.) My issue is I want to do a box in either side of my hatch but there are some lines on the one side which makes it have a much smaller available space. My question is should I make both boxes fill up the space and have different size boxes or make them both match? I will probably stay sealed to avoid having to figure out airspace and since I'm going for more sq I don't need it to get really loud. Will I have cancelation issues if they are different sizes?

    300zx sub box designs

I know its important but I don't have alot of room and so going with a sealed box might be my best choice. Is there a way to figure out the volume of an odd shaped box or just split it up using math and figure it out divided into easier shape to calculate? I want room for my t tops as I've shown in the picture so I will have to be more creative. Another option would be to build a sealed L shaped box. As its lower on either side of the spare tire And then make beauty panels to fill gaps?

    Blast from the past (2009)

:)I'm really bummed, just over 3 years ago I came upon a set of 2 12" icons at the pawn shop, I thought they were huge motors being quite new to car audio i thought they were just ebay crap or smtg and thought 150 each was high. Boy do I wish I had bought them now. Then again I got two new 15" icons which I love so can't complain.
  7. So I finally decided to start my first build log as my box is almost done and I've received most of the equipment. So far my build will consist of 2 15" SSA Icon 15" in a 7.2 cubic foot enclosure tuned to 32hz. The subs will be ran by a Crescendo BC2000D wired with one positive run of ofc Knu 0 guage and one negative run. Battery is a brand new xs power d2700, front speakers are hertz hsk components in front and hertz ecx in rear on a Rockford T15004. Also have a 250 amp alt from Mike Singer coming. Will post pictures later today. I'm open to suggestions and critisism as long as its constructive as I'm always looking to learn.

2003 Dodge Dakota crew with 2 15" Icons

Thanks, I built them myself. I worked at a welding shop for a year so had some experience and decided to build one. It came out really good . Its rockguarded then painted like my fender flares etc . Getting the angles right for the headache rack was the hardest part.

    NEW 10s

The i series specs are listed on incriminators website. Its the 187 series, the i series replaced them but specs are the same. Im not sure which to recomend as i havent heard either in sealed application. Maybe someone more familiar with t/s specs can see which would model better in a sealed application?

    NEW 10s

I just installed 2 E12's in the back of an older Acura Vigor and They sound pretty good and get quite loud, but are in a ported 3.8 foot tuned to 34hz. I also have an Incriminator I 10 and that for the money and price that was an amazing sub, ported box again though. The Dcons have been getting amazing reviews too. So I think as long as you stick with the SUndown, Incriminator or SSA you should be happy. Although with those boxes though you wont get near the full potential of the subs.

    2k budget

I didnt say to go with the mezzo comps. Id go withwhatever the op thinks sounds best. Other than the comps and speaker amp i think the list looks good

    2k budget

Need to give more details, like is it for your 98 Pontiac? How much space do you have for subs? gonna put them in the trunk? take out the back seats? Whats your max enclosure dimensions? yes its for my 98 grand prix.36"w x 16"h x28"d.I will keep my back seats in Make sure with those dimensions you have enough room to get the box in the trunk, you must remember the angle it has to go in at. With close to those dimensions you would b able to go with either 2 XCON 12"s or 2 12" ICONS in around 4.5-5.5 cubic feet (depending on which sub) tuned between 30-35 based on your listening preference. uh, this doesn't sound like a good setup. I think that list sounds pretty good other than I dont like the Pioneer Headunits, Many people love them though I just dont like the layout. Another problem with that setup is you would be quite a bit over budget. These prices are guesstimates headunit +/- $200, Xcons $850 components +/-$200 bc2000amp $480 Wires +/-$200 Speaker amp $150-200 D3400 $260 Total: Approximately $2,400 plus box. Going used would save you some money, or go with 2 Icons.

    cargo area wall ??????

I was caught up on moving air and trying for a hairtrick in my crew cab Dakota, I went with 2 15" Icons in a fairly big box with a fair amount of port area on 2000 watts and I can do a hairtrick about like bigjon does maybe a bit more. It was cool and all and I was really happy I can do one but other than showing off to the odd person its kinda pointless. And when you leave your window cracked accidentally when its snowing out with stereo on expect the inside of your vehicle to be filled with snow. It sucks. Ultimately though building a setup designed for what music you like to listen to and enjoy would be smarter, and if you accomplish a hairtrick, Bonus.

    Icon

The Icon would be too deep. The mounting depth on it is 6.5" and you have only 8.25" max at the bottom and will be at quite a steep angle which would limit depth more especially with the size of the magnet on the Icon. And your options for porting wouldn't be that great because of the top depth would limit you to 2" max round ports (which a couple would maybe be adequate , Other option would be to port out of the side of the box . one or two ported SD-10s would probably fit you well. Or you could lose a seat and put a 15" Icon in and tune low and get nice lows.

Just got my bc2000d, have some questions

To answer your terminal question, the amp is still a mono amp the second set of terminals are just a convienience feature that some amps have to make it easier to run more than one set of speaker wires Into it, (used if you were using 2 subs or more subs). Basically the 2 positives and two negatives are connected together inside the amp. Its just a convenience feature so if you have the positive wire from sub put it in positive terminal and negative wire to negative terminal. Pick which order u like the look of best lol
  20. Hi, So last spring I bought a 1993 Nissan 300zx that was converted to twin turbo. Only to find out the next day that the engine was about to go because of Sh** work the shop did (splicing 2 wiring harnesses together with crimps, looping. deleting oil cooler, installing the wrong rad and had the hood hit it and crack the top. Anyways as I am only 19 years old and this isnt my only vehicle and I have to buy all the stuff myself as my parents taught me to save for what I want and dont hand me money. So far I finally found a good JDM engine, bought it and brought it to a shop to get it all done as I dont have a hoist or enough knowledge to do a swap in that insanely cramped engine bay. Thought I would post a couple pics as stuff is getting done and then later make a small build log when I save up for putting a small sound system in it probably 2 10's with one in each corner of the hatch leaving room for T-tops. Anyways here it is, Has a lightweight flywheel, stage 2 racing clutch, K&N cai, Dual 3inch exhaust with electric cut-outs, and chipped ecu, should be putting out around 350-400 at the crank or around 300rwhp. will get it dynoed when done. . Parts so far. Still waiting on New Wiring Harness and short shifter. And heres a 300zx the shop has built from stock. Its making 585hp at the wheels and has the same body kit as my car.

What are some really good deep hitting 12s?

I have 2 15" SSA Icons in 7.2 cubic foot net to 32hz and it gets low. I took 2 girls for a ride the other day and gave em a demo. (They aren't audio virgins either, one has a brother with 2 CVR 12s on 1000rms and the others brother has 2 sundown E12s and when the bass dropped they freaked out. It was something redone by decaf. Asked them after what they thought and they said it felt like god was stomping on their face. Made me laugh. But for the price the icons are amazing.

lets see the king cab builds ,

Sell the 18 and build a wall of 5x7" speakers. That'd be sweet!
  23. A popping noise from the subs is normal because it instantly turns on the amp were as a deck has a soft turn on so it doesn't pop.
