    Z v3 15" or 18" ?

The 15" will be a tad more efficient and the 18" will have more cone area. Might equal out in the end. I edited it cause I read 5.3 for the sub, which I didn't think he meant port as well. I would say 4.2 is a good size for a 15. Depends on the sub though. My dcons are in 5cubes each without port. But then again some only need 2.5... Most 18s need at least 5-6. I ran my Z.3 18" in 4.2 cubes (not counting port) and it sounded great. I hit a 143.8@32hz on 1500ish watts. I know that isnt ear shattering but it isnt bad either. The Z's can run in a lot smaller enclosures than you may think. You gain efficiency by using larger enclosures. Ahh okay, I was speaking generally. I have heard sundowns don't require larger boxes, but it didn't click. Good to know typically like what bigjon said 18s need larger enclosures, Ive always likes sundown so that's another good reason to purchase them. Oh and 143 is pretty good for a single sub. so nice

4.2 cubic feet is a bit small for an 18, I would say go for the 15.

    Box for 4 Dcon 15s

Oh and I was going to just grab another rubicon 2.600 but they aren't strappable so I think I'm just going to sell the 2.600 and get a Crescendo c1100.4 which I can later use as my mids and highs when I upgrade again. Unless there is another option for 1200w at 2ohms that's less then 500.

    Box for 4 Dcon 15s

I was thinking of buying a 18in or two, or maybe even a 21in DP. But in all reality I probably should just build on what I have. So I was thinking another 2 Dcons. I'm not sure how much louder it would be, or if it'd be worth it to try. I saw Hairyunicorns 6 Dcons, and yeah they looked like they looked like they did decent, but I think his issue was the box. A bit small. I have lots of room for these Dcons, and don't care about cargo space so... I was trying to design a box that would give the Dcons all the space they need, without losing my backseats. But if I have to... that is an option.. The space I have to work with without taking out the back seat: 35" high 51" wide around 22-23" for depth. I was designing one myself, but I'm not completely confident in my box designing abilities. I know I need about 16-20cubes and I want tuning to be around 30-32hz, I'm not sure how much port I need though.

    Box for 4 Dcon 15s

35 seems a bit high? seems like I would lose my lows. But alright, umm max dimensions that would slide in as one piece with the back seat still functional, would be 51in wide, 22.5in deep, and 35in tall.

    Box for 4 Dcon 15s

Yeah that's why the Dcons were my most likely choice, and your opinions fully confirm that. so thanks guys What I don't like about my current setup is that it doesn't flex much outside my truck, which doesn't matter to most. But to me its important for that wow factor. My 3 twelves I had before this, would set off car alarms but this one build doesn't. Not the biggest priority for sure obviously. I like the SQ even with ported, I thought they'd lose all of their definition with ported like a lot of subs I've heard. So yeah I'd pretty much like to go for mainly a SPL box this time around, cause I think the Dcons will have just enough SQ left to satisfy me. I listen to Dubstep, decaf, bass, and rap. Mostly Decaf stuff. I dig the lows but as long as I can at least sorta hear down to 26-27 I'll be really happy. So as a generalization, that's my goals. Also to note is that the top on a bronco is just thin fiberglass and being an old Truck/Suv it doesn't seal up all that well, so acoustics are not the best. I'm not sure that will be a factor in the box though, other then the only good way to point the subs/port is forward.

    Box for 4 Dcon 15s

I'm not sure it's the best choice. Theres two people on youtube with larger dcon 15s builds, one with 4 dcons and one with 6, and neither of them were happy with the outcome of their builds. It makes me uneasy to just get more Dcons. Seems like it might be better to change woofers. The problem is deciding which one. whats your guys opinion? I have about 500-600 dollar budget because shipping is a bitch to alaska. Definitely not going to go anything smaller then a 15 also..

    Distortion.. No bueno

That thought came to my head earlier, but I forgot to. Ill make sure tomorrow morning. check all the cables. Might even try different RCAs just for kicks. They are kicker RCAs so who knows ;P That's a good point, didn't think about that.

    Distortion.. No bueno

Recently I edited some music, and it had a few really low notes. Decided it was about time I moved my high pass up a little from 15hz. Did that and then for some reason decided it was a good idea to reset my gain even though it sounded perfect as is... As I was doing this and I had the gain all the way down and the deck paused, I noticed a fluttering whine coming from my subs. Thought it was a little weird cause I had never noticed it before. I forgot to mark where I had the gain before which was a mistake.. I tried to set the gain with a 40hz tone, but It was hard to tell where It actually started clipping, I was hearing distortion way before I should have. I thought I had just listened to bass too much before and I took a break for awhile. I had a headache from sitting close to the woofer to listen for distortion. When I came back it was still there. I decided I must have accidentally flipped a switch on the amp, but everything looked right. I flipped the back and forth just to make sure it was in the correct positions. I tried to put the gain back to where I thought it was but there was still this sharp-ish sound to the bass, wasn't smooth like normal. Tried up down, but to no avail. Also the amp seems to be running much hotter then normal. Usually I can play 30-45mins before it gets pretty warm. Sounds like they are clipping on most of the songs I used to play even though its not as loud. Doesn't make sense to me. I checked both the subs and they move smoothly. Thinking of taking them out of the enclosure and checking the coils and such anyway. I miss the smooth bass and sound quality of the dcons before already, so any advice would be highly appreciated!

    Distortion.. No bueno

Tried it earlier, it had no effect whatsoever. Ill try that agian tomorrow and fiddle with it, but I'm thinking maybe its a mechanical issue.

    Distortion.. No bueno

Yeah, That's what I was basically trying. I used a 40hz test tone turned the gain all the way down, had the hpf slightly above 15hz. then slowly turned up, but I was hearing disortion at alot lower volume and it got worse as I went to around where it was before. It was perfect before, I got a lot of compliments on the SQ. Idk why my dumbass had to mess with it. My Current Settings: visual aid I might try turning it to full mode, turning the filter off on my deck then have the LPF set to around 80hz and the HPF set right above 15hz. Don't think it will help because I've never done that before, but why not.

    Distortion.. No bueno

Its mainly decaf, but The stuff I edited I made sure was clipfree. Yes I have two 5cube boxes tuned to 30hz. The weird part is everything souded great till I started messing with my amp, and I cant seem to make it sound right agian no matter what I try. Oh and my amp only has a setting for highpass, lowpass, and full. My deck filters everything above 63hz, and I have the amp set for highpass and anything below 15hz because the dial only has number at 15hz and the other side which is 225hz. So its hard to know where the 28hz that i want to set it at is. And before you guys ask... yes the bass boost is off I'm not that ignorant fortunately. Only saying that cause that would definitely cause distortion at low levels.

    I think I broke it....please advise

Yeah I need to stop beating so hard on em, but I guess if it happens I can't complain since it was my fault. Anyways good luck to op on the xcons.

    I think I broke it....please advise

Im surprised something like this hasn't happened to me, I send 22-28 hz full tilt (with some clipping probably) through my dcons all the time... Dcons are just secretly beasts I guess haha.

    Bronco side window rattle

The side windows in a bronco's top are only held in by rubber trim, Unfortunately they are not tight enough to withstand the pressures of bass. The windows flex back and forth and on some songs can make enough noise to be annoying. Anyone have any ideas on how to better secure them? I was thinking maybe epoxy of some sort, but I'm not sure if it would work or which one to use.

    BigPimpin91 Music

Ill post it after I finish downloading them, I wanna make sure they at least stay up till then. There's two sources on the site, but ones missing 1-4 of his Zips. Not sure on the other one yet. EDIT: The first one is 1-13 zips, I confirm it works although download is slow... Second 5-21 zips work, 1-4 doesn't. http://www.bassclub.ru/forum/showthread.php?t=46608 http://www.bassclub.ru/forum/showthread.php?t=20856

    Bronco side window rattle

That actually makes more sense than epoxy, much more forgiving one way or another. Plus its very cheap. I think I'll try this and see what happens. Thanks man!
  23. Ive heard good things about their amps, and I love the volt meter on the air models. Are the specs accurate on these, and are they good quality? They are dirt cheap, 134$ for the t700 with shipping to AK added on amazon. I was thinking of getting the t700 to put on the Dcons if it would be better then the soundstream rubicon 2.600 that I currently have. Couldn't find any actual reviews on them though. Thought I'd ask for your opinions, lot of smart people here. Thanks guys.

    Oxygen audio amps

And it's a load of bullshit. With very few exceptions, every single time someone says that it's bullshit. You're simply gullible if you believe it. Ask for PROOF, and those people can never provide it. Because it's "common knowledge", and they heard that "common knowledge" from someone else who couldn't provide a lick of evidence and were stupid enough to believe it. The actual measurements I've seen of the newer SS amps have all met rated power. I see no reason to expect otherwise. Good. Wasted money isn't good. I'm assuming you are running the SS amp at 2ohm per channel or bridged into 4ohm giving your subs right around 300w a piece, there realistically isn't a power "upgrade" from that without changing subwoofers since you are right at the driver's rated power handling. Increasing power enough to be audible isn't going to be beneficial as by that point you will be far exceeding the thermal limitations of the driver. Huh, alright thanks. Its hard to know a reliable source of information, gotta be more careful apparently. I figured so, but I wanted to confirm it just in case.

    Oxygen audio amps

Because the sounstream amp probably puts out 200-250, Id rather have more then I need and still get the same sound so that I don't risk clipping like I am now. I am planning a new build but id rather have everything right in the mean time, before I start buying stuff for the new build. That was my logic at least, and honestly I like trying new things and seeing how they work out. Again, you doing nothing but guessing. What facts do you have to support either premise that the Soundstream is overrated or that the RF is underrated? Clipping has to do with your settings, not the amplifier. Sounds like you're trying to throw money at a problem that exists in your mind, not in your system. Spend the money where it will make a difference, and right now I have no reason to believe that is the logic you are following. Its common knowledge that soundstream overrates their products, Ive been told that by many. I don't have the equipment to test it, nor an oscope to see whether I'm clipping or not. I do things by ear because that's what I have at this time. From what I can tell I have the gain set correctly, I can barely tell some distortion past 45 on my headunit which is where I like it, But Id rather have a little more room that's all. So yeah its more a psychological need to make it better. any improvement in my book is good. anyways, I'll probably focus on an alternator instead, because that's the base for every system really.
