  1. How did you like your RL-p?  What size box/type of box do you have for it.  Also do you know anything about the CL-62?  How well do they sound if you know?

I also plan to keep my factory CD player that I have for right now and was thinking of getting the JL clean sweep.  What do you think of the clean sweep or am I just better at trying to find an aftermarket cd player.

I love my Rl-p it is super clean sounding have it sealed in 1.35cuft but I wouldn't be scared of porting it. In my case I need the trunk space and spare (50k mi / year) and big demo gear to go in the trunk.

It has been a while since I have heard any CDT's, I have always been impressed with their price performance but I don't feel comfortable responding about how they sound. PM Upstage if you want to know.

As for the clean sweep, I would either do Navone converters http://www.davidnavone.com/ or even better replace the hu. I am sure the clean sweep is fine, but JL is too big IMO so there marketing department has too much pull over engineering. You can tell from my equipment list that I don't often play with the big boys like that. Oh ignore that recommendation, you have a 92 Honda and asked for SQ--you NEED a new headunit!

  2. Those sites you mentioned are some great resources, I always commend the folks who do pre-purchase homework. Archiving is a long, labourious task, I commend you for taking it on though.

Thanks, I have a "researching problem"....some might call addiction. And those sites are definetely over the top when it comes to computer audio. Couldn't believe how much info there was out there, way, way more than anything I have seen for cars.

  3. Output for output it will be very similar in SPL, but flatter when the two are sealed up and to me will sound that much better. Oh, and who cares if the cone is nekkid get it anyway. The logo is cool and so is Mike....give him some money.

  4. Promo #1 IS-2080 CDT-CL62 $305.00

    Promo #2 IS-2100 EF-61 $365.00

    Promo #3 IS-2100 EF-61 CF $380.00

    Or a build your own:

IS-2100 and CDT-CL62 -- $350 **eagerly waiting to be put in your car**

Of course if you buy the Rl-p instead of the D2 you have nearly another $250 to put in your front stage...which I would do (and just did), but I have never heard a D2 so my recommendation is unfair and biased based on being able to spend more on the front stage.

  5. well how much do you have to spend? lets go from there.

i would pm upstage audio here about the quality of the CDT's you are looking at. hes got tons of experience with CDT.

Upstage is the guy for those...

What are you combining them with and what/where are you going to put them?

  6. That's great.

Might be "ok", but we need a little more info. Actually a question would be good as well? What are you trying to do and what do you currently have? How much money do you want to spend and what do you listen to? What sort of car isn't a bad addition either...

  7. New prank phone call line. Anyone and everyone feel free to *67 call this ass. I'd suggest at odd hours of the day. Ask for Jack Hole or somethin. Good email to post onto any porn site as well.

  8. 1) Digitize my music collection--started tonight (I think winter did to, it is supposed to snow :puzzled: )

    2) Remove the rust on my 95 Ford PU and glass/bondo/paint it

    3) Build a mantle over my fireplace, it needs it badly

    4) Hopefully find some 18's for summer tires for my car

  9. Creative owns E-Mu, so you just bought yourself another soundblaster.... he he. The M-Audio stuff is really quite nice, a lot of lower-budget (home) studios are using that stuff. If you are a Mac guy, Apple Lossless is also another great choice. FLAC is really the format of choice, but it isnt as widely used, nor is it easy to play back (CPU intensive) which is why most players don't play it!

They do own them, but they don't design them. I know the M-Audio is nice, but the a/d d/a setup on the E-Mu was subjectively labelled as better. I spent a long time on Hydrogen and head fi as well as diyaudio to make sure that my decision was okay. And I really only want 2 chn stereo as I have no use for the 5.1/7.1 formats--those are for the HT room. I just want my pc to be a jukebox for all of my CD's and my vinyl which I have to digitize using the board. 1000 LP's helped make the decision for me...

  10. I was under the impression that it wasn't really lossless...

Any thoughts on sound cards? I really only need 2 chn, but have no problems buying for the future. A good a/d and d/a is required as my stereo equipment is pretty old school. (My cpu will be connected to an Adcom amp that is currently collecting dust).

    I am looking at:

    Audiotrak Prodigy 7.1

Chaintech AVS-710 (good 2 chn d/a but have no idea on a/d)

    M-audio Audiophile

    M-audio Revolution 5.1 or 7.1

    E-MU 0404

I am willing to give up gaming sounds for music SQ so it won't be an Audigy or X-Fi card. If the Chaintech had a good a/d for recording 2 chn, it would be the choice. $23 at Newegg with a Wolfson DAC for 2 of the analog channels and a good digital out for the future....
