  1. couldnt you just put a resistor inline with the power wire to bring down the voltage from 12V to 6V?

just use ohm's law to figure out the size or something

    i dunno, just my thoughts

    Nope.

I'll post the voltage regulator design asap. Can you find me the current draw?

You will need a LM7806 3-pin regulator forsure, other parts depend on the current draw.

Not one, but 3 and indeed an ohm's law solution. Am I missing something? Your way does sound sexy.

  2. Alright I have some poo to post. :postwhore: I don't feel like starting a thread in fabrication and I don't feel like reading a bunch on f'glass posts to find my answer. How the fvck do you sand the body filler in the little areas, for instance around my kickpanels. I have painted and repaired a few cars, but the features that you sand around on them are huge in comparison and I surely can't use a sanding block. My patience runs thin with these details...

Also, I had originally planned on wrapping them in vinyl which would make the finishing easier, but is it realistic to expect the vinyl to conform to the same areas that I am having a hard time sanding? If so, since my car is black I may try ye olde spray on bedliner and see how she looks first.

  3. Got a new job today ...  nothing special, but it pays more ...  Unfortunately, it's a night job, so I won't be able to see my GF much ...  but it should get me some extra $$$ for Christmas and, after I complete my courses in December, I should be able to find a job doing one of them for even more money, so it's not a huge deal ...  My GF doesn't seem too happy about it, though ...

I should start next Monday and make about $480/month (- taxes) more ...  :fing34:

Congratulations! Your GF will deal, sometimes space helps a relationship more than spending time together can. Especially since you are talking about finishing your coursework in December. It really isn't that far away!!

  4. Looking great man!  Make sure to give us a good review.  I will be installing a set of Lotus RW165's soon and would like to hear your thoughts on the Excels.

Well the Excel's are uber sexy looking with that copper phase plug! I will definetely give a subjective review and perhaps quantitative as well as I should have my analyzer back shortly.

I made a bit more headway tonight. First layer of bondo on the passenger side and I reconnected the drivers side to the newly shortened footrest. Here are pics. Now I just have to figure out how to sand such small features in the body filler, ergh! Can't really use a wood block...

Oh, and one other thought. My sub box build-up was my first glass project, if anyone else is learning I would modify a kick or door panel first. It is so much easier and faster. Of course, the finishing work might be trickier.

  5. H3 is made under the HUMMER name by GM, but much like the H2 is a worthless peice of yuppie garbage.

There is only 1 hummer IMO , the military spec humvees.

    bingo

Incorrect sir. The only hummer that I know of I can get in any car, just need a woman along with me.

  6. One step closer! I should be able to put the final layer of glass on this evening, and if I am lucky the first layer of bondo as well.

    Here are some updated pics:

Pic 1 shows the first test fit of the baffle/kick face in the car. Also you can see the interference that the footrest would cause.

Pic 2 shows the shortened footrest

Pic 3 shows the shortened footrest in the car (not glassed yet)

Pic 4 is the passenger side kick

    :woot:

    Getting somewhere now!

  7. Chit, I left the best extra amp off the list. I even found my old birth sheet for it. This is of course what stemmed me to place the post in the first place. I have an old RF Puch 150HD (build date 9-16-1991). Birthed at 190 w/chn 2ohm otherwise rated at 75wx2 4 ohm. Would this sound okay to drive me tweeters? My understanding is that it is of vintage enough to still be a decent piece, but want to make sure before putting it into my car especially since it will be playing from ~2k+. The footprint is the right size too!
