I've been into car audio since way back but not so much hardcore for the past 15 years. Now with my son driving it's just a little too much fun getting his car bumpin a bit. I am not a mass poster and came here because a couple other forums I've checked out seem to be more about drama than the jam. It looks clean here...I like that.

Hello. Been looking for subs for my truck and came across this forum. I've learned alot that I didnt know from researching. I had my previous subs stolen out of my truck. Looking to do a stealth build and not go mainstream. I have alot of questions but have answered alot myself from researching. I am not new to forums at all, just to audio forums. A lot of good info.

Well, if any of you might recognize my name, it's because I'm not exactly new to car audio or forums lol. I just haven't been on SSA yet. A friend told me to check it out, so why not. Glad to see some new faces and a new forum for a hobby and industry I'm so passionate about. I'm sure I'll answer as many questions as I can, more than I'll ask most likely. And I'm sure hanging out and shooting the shit will happen often enough as well. I look forward to checking things out and talking it up, guys.

With a love and feel for music, my brohah recently has encouraged me to vamp up my car with a new stereo, speakers, and more over an xcon 15, now I not only hear my music but feel it as well. Hope to place in amateur competitions with it, possibly stock class!

Just joined up, look forward to checking out some builds and starting my own hopefully near spring time. Planning on a 15" FI SSD on a BRZ 1200 for now. Still debating my budget for the mids and mids amp. Can't wait to start my build and see others share theirs!

Hello all, My name is Chase. I've been into audio for about three years now ever since I got my first car in the 11th grade. Ever since then I've been through about five different systems and have just recently finished my first "real" system. I look forward to learning new things on this forum and checking out some awesome builds!

  11. Hey guys, I'm new to car audio and just installed my first sub a few days ago. It's a 12 inch Dcon D4. I have it running at 2 ohms off of an audioque aq750. I built the enclosure using the optimal ported recommendation on the SSA website. The problem is I cant turn up the gain on the amp very much without the sub making a rattling noise. Any ideas what I might have done wrong to cause this? I know I'm not getting anywhere close to full potential out of this thing. With the gain set low enough to eliminate the rattle, the mirrors don't even move! The sound is very good, but there just isn't any power at all. All advice is greatly appreciated.

Brand new on the forum here. Been lurking a bit since I ordered my DCON and decided to become official. I'm not totally new to the car audio world having had several set ups in the past, but not an expert by any means. Took a several year hiatus and getting interested again. Current ride is a 2003 Audi a4 avant. Ordered a 10" DCON a few weeks ago and getting excited to receive it. The sub will be getting 3 different boxes, starting with an ideal sealed MDF enclosure, then a close to ideal ported MDF enclosure. Probably ending up in my first attempt at a glass enclosure which will most likely be sealed. I am a guy who really, really needs my cargo space so the MDF enclosur…

Hello all, just a quick post to introduce myself. I joined this forum to try and catch up on some technology, I have been out of the car audio scene since about 2002. I stopped messing with them shortly after quitting my job as an installer, which I did for about 1.5 years after going to Installer Institute in Florida. I got my MECP and all that fancy stuff, then was hired by the first shop I called. It was fun but I got burned out after about a year and have done other stuff since I quit. Some of you may know the shop, it is now called Ultimate Audio on OBT in Orlando (or was a couple years ago last time I was in FL). I finally have the drive to want some serious tunes i…

Hello SSA forums, glad to be a new member here! I just ordered a 10" GCON (dual 4 ohm, for a sealed box), and was curious as to what types of RMS levels it would take to work well? I know it takes up to 750 WRMS, I was just curious how well it would do with less than that, as I still need to get an amp for it, and money is an issue. it will be in a 2003 Saturn Ion, no sound deadening, and it is a daily driver, so I was looking for decent sound quality, with the ability to thump if need be on occasion. On a related note, would either Soundstream PN1.650D, or a Crunch PZA1500.1 be better for this sub? I'm open to other amplifiers, but I was looking to spend under $150, and…

  22. Hey all, New here, but not to forums. Found this site through CarAudio/DIYMA or something. I have limited knowledge of car audio stuff, I haven't installed or had anything nice to listen to for 10 years now. Truck is an '07 Ram Mega Cab, so I have ample space behind the rear seats. So far I have: Pioneer AVIC-Z120BT Focal 165 V30 JBL GTO 1004 (on the way, $100 recent Best Buy sale) Have my wiring (AudioTechnix 1/0 OFC), need terminals/distro blocks/etc. AudioTechnix 80mil sound deadener Currently I'm reading about and researching subs/amps, and whether I want Luxury Liner Pro, or SDS CCF + MLV for the last pieces of the puzzle. I read rules 14-18, so I will not use SPL/…

Came here after looking around the forums searching for guidance on my new build. I recently came to the realization that my kickers and alpines were just enough to make me hungry for better sound, and aren't cutting it for me anymore. So its time to start planning and collecting parts for an upgrade. I drive a 2005 Xterra SE. Im looking to get a good bit louder, while maintaining pretty good sound quality. Not really any aspirations of competing. Current build: Pioneer AVH P3200BT H/U Kicker Zx700.5 with 4ga power and grounds Alpine SPR17c (rear doors) Alpine SPR69c (front doors) Kicker comp 12's (2) in a sealed box (i think around 5 cubes and filled) Planned build: Big …
