  3. I need some suggestions on what subs to wall up in my 2001 2dr S-10 Blazer. This will be my first real build the only thing I have had that was "loud" was 2 15" Kicker L7s dual 4 ohm wired down to 1 ohm by a 2000 watt hifonics brutus (The only competition I was ever apart of I got 3rd place with this system in 2008 at milan dragway in michigan at some street warriors 2000+ watts class I wasnt even going to enter. I got a trophy for it.) . This was 4 years ago. I have not since then had a system in my ride and have now FINALLY decided to get back into the car audio world and will be trying to go "Big" this time. I want to keep my back seats folded down and or maybe take th…

I see a lot of amps pushing plenty of rms and the speakers are generally limited to 100rms or lower. Occaisionally, I will see one able to take 200 rms. My question would be, do those that can take higher power give a better quality sound? I am missing on why an amp would put out huge amounts of power when no speakers can hold them. Is it so you can run multi speakers on one channel?

I just found this forum. Been back in car audio for two yrs and really gotten serious about it over the winter. I built a wall which I am still experimenting with. 3 18" sealed ~20cu. on 1500 watts. 145.9 on tl w/drivers door open. I've had a lot of fun making vids for my YT channel (same name) I run some old school gear the sq cats used in the nineties you can see in my sig. It has been fun to re-purpose them for a low power ""SQL"" build. The car isn't finished yet and I think the wall will be rebuilt this fall for 6 18" sealed in a vertical clamshell. I post a lot of pictures and videos and update my YT all the time. My next project is to add a pair …

Hello everyone. My name is steve and i may be a newbi here on ssa but definitely not a newbi to the car audio scene. I have worked at many sound shops since 1993 and have owned my own shop for the past 3 years. car audio is my passion. I compete once in a while when i have time to. I just wanted to thank ssa for the new xcons i received today! They are by far the best 10" subs i have used thus far. Great sound, and loud! I have had many setups in my cars in the past and in my current lexus is 250 i have used orion 10" hcca, orion 12" xt rpro (which smoked) and alpine 12" type r's. I sold the orion hcca's and ever since that i missed them. My trunk is small, so 12's rea…

Some of you might already know me from Youtube, for those who don't I "Bass-out" cutting-edge bass music for a bunch of the basshead peeps. I don't have a vehicle or nothing, but I do have a custom system in my room that puts some car systems down hard lol. My system consist of 4 12" mids, 6 5" mids, 4 2" silk dome tweets. Powered by a Denon-AVR3803 for the mids and I have a small 200 watt amp for the tweets. The bass power comes off the Denon too. I used a phase converter on the right and left channel and brought it down to 4 ohms & use a low pass filter from a salvaged home theatre sub. For my bass I converted my closet into a giant 6th order, with 3 12" drivers (MT…

I have 2 sony xplod 10 inch 1200w SVC(330w RMS, 4ohms) subs in a sealed boxed with a sony xplod 1000w 2 ch amp. Specs on the amp Model Number: Xm-1652z 165w rms x 2 @ 4 ohms 200w rms x 2 @ 2 ohms 400w rms x 1 @ 4 ohms OK so i have the subs hooked up to the terminals on the box normally (+ to +, - to -) but i bridged it to the amp. Now my question is since i put both the postive wires from each sub directly into the bridge (BTL +) postive on the amp and the same with the negatives, would that be series or parallel? And would it be 2 ohms or 8 ohms, I know it should be 8 ohms on a 2 channel amp thats not 2 ohm stable bridgeable with 2 4 ohm subs and if it is 2 ohms h…

Hey guys, I'm brand new to the car audio world and am looking for a system that can pound as a daily driver. I've already decided to run 2 15" N2 BTL's but am unsure on what to power them and what alt/batts to back them up. I've read a lot of forums and the DC 3.5k amp looks good plus its 15% as a presale. I was thinking of having a 320a DC power alt with an XS D975 up front and a D3100 in back, all wired 1/0 with big three. Will my system run well? and if not, what can i do to make sure i supply enough power to amp and that the amp is a good fit? BTW, budget is in $2500-$3k range Any tips/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I am getting a GCON 15 for my E-150 Moto van. I drive it everywhere. i like to be bumpin down the road and seeing everyone look. But im all about the sound quality i like my sound clear and crisp with a bit of bump with it. I currently have 4 coaxle Kicker Ds65's. I am a tattooist and body piercier that really loves his music clean clean and loud. I am a responsible boomer as my sound is for me and me alone. I am 45 and got into doing my own systems two years ago. I have done one system only and now redoing. I do read the forums everyday but dont post much as I am not a post whore and I have far less info as you guys. I do post as to things I need to know but really it is not on the common things that are posted. Right now I am building my pt so as it can hold 10 amps, 4 subs, 4 midbass, 4 midrange and 8 tweeters. I have lost my left eye this year do to cancer so I am going to put a tv for backing up. I will be running my ststem of…

Watsup guys, I'm new to this forum and in need of some advice. I bought a 00 mustang gt with the crappy Mach 460 system, the previous owner replaced the stock head unit w/ a Kenwood DDX418, love the stereo but it sounds horrendous with the stock sound system, I have compiled the speakers so far: DB drive speed series 6.5 components for the front and Hypnotic Zen 6x7 components for the rear. I need help choosing an amp ( I know i need something that is 4x80) and I need help choosing a set of 10" subs ( I was thinking of 2 kicker cvs subs in a flush mounted box) and an amp to power them. I want good clean studio sound, and I don't want to spend an absurd amount of money. Wh…

  23. I am looking for a suitable replacement of 4 Boston Acoustics Pro series 10.4LF. Normally when a customer is looking for sq I just direct them to Boston Acoustics 3 series subs because I've got the hook-up and can make a little on the deal. But with the car audio division of Boston I would rather start using something else. I currently have a customer that owns 4 10" B/A's And even though 2 of them need to be re-coned, he still thinks that it's the best way to go. I am trying to steer him toward something newer, but am not going to be left looking like an ass if it don't perform as good or better. Honestly I have only heard the two that he had in his Camaro and they reall…

My car is a 2010 Mustang convertible and has little room for anything.Would there be any issues with putting the crossovers next to the amp? They are big, 6"x41/2" x2". I know it would entail running more wire but I have a large roll. I have a thing for the Zed Leviathan and I think they would look good next to it.

just realized after about a month of creating a account here and replying on some posts that I never took the step to post on the newbie forum. So here we are, my post on the newbie forum. Done most of my audio by myself and learned the hard way while paying through the teeth. Usually have worked with trucks in particullar that are very limited on space. Just finished my friends system in his extended cab toyota tacoma with two FI Q fully loaded 12's in a ported box on a Hifonics 2500, accidently had the amp wired down to .5 ohm's and fried it the first day . Gonna get him an amp for each and see how that goes. Currently researching some 8 inch subs that are budget fr…
