New poster to the forum. I was away from car audio for 12 years or so but I gave in to the bug again in the last 6 months. I am shopping for a new sub at this time. Waiting on the GCON to be re-released, as I have been looking at many different subs and it seems to be the best fit in my price range. I bought a JL 12w3 last year but my car audio rust was showing, as I bought it on ebay and it blew with no abuse. Now I am looking to do it right this time and landed here at SSA.

  4. 'Sup folks! BiggJern's the name! well, not much to say except I'm from RoE (back when it was alive ) and I'm slowly coming back. If you recognize me then hey there! Ok, what else? Oh, I have a new ride-- a 2014 Nissan Altima to be exact-- and I'm kinda starting fresh with the audio as my old ride gave out on me. So we'll see how this goes, lol

But was told on a different forum that the evils won't be as good. And most likely wont work well with the hex xovers.. should i sell the evils and keep the hex? Your thoughts are appreciated =D. Ty

I'm wanting to upgrade to a x or zcon 15 off this amp.. http://www.woofersetc.com/st-1650xm-ii-zapco-monoblock-1650w-rms-class-d-amplifier.html i can squeeze 4cubes of enclosure. im think 34-37 hz. Will there be any benefit to getting the z over the x other than feeling cooler with the chunkier sub

So I'll start off with my goals. I want a setup where the bass is accurate, precise, and powerful. However, I don't want subwoofers that are just loud and completely overwhelm the musicality of my front stage and midbass. I want midbass that efficiently bridges the gap where my subwoofer(s) fall off and I want midbass that is loud enough to make itself heard. The front stage I'm not too concerned with, though I would like a nice blend for vocals. The experience where you feel as if you are at the concert. That being said, I will now talk about the system as it is now. THE POWER GRID: What's in it now: 180 amp high output alternator. 2000 w…

The vehicle is a 2002 chevy 2500hd extended cab I put a pioneer 6500 in the dash it was cheap and had the features I wanted I bout nvx 6.5 components for the front doors (vsp65 kit) nvx 4x6 for the rear doors run off a pioneer GM-D8604 . I started out making a budget system I picked up a pioneer sub ts-w261d4 and was gonna run it off a older alpine I had in the closet collecting dust MRI-450 I think we'll long story short the sub sounds like a budget sub I tried both ported and sealed pioneers sp…

What's going on all. I have been lurking on the site for the past 6 months, reading, learning and such. Have always had car audio in my rides since 1997. In 1997, I purchase my first vehicle 1997 Blazer ZR-2. Well I needed subs and put two Eclipse SW6000s 10 inch in there. I then had a 1988 Toyota Cressida that was rocking two 10 inch Eclipse SW 88100, ran by an MTX 81000D amp. Then a 2000 Escalade that I moved the two 10 Eclipse to and added a 10 inch Eclipse SW9100, all powered by Hifonic Brutus amps. Then there is a 1998 Suburban with two 12 inch MTX 7500, powered by a Hifonics amp....THEN I stumbled across this board and learned about building a ground pounding…

I just decided to get back into car audio about 2 months ago I've been out of it a long . The last time I did anything serious mb quart precision power and audio control and Orion were the top brands needless to say things have changed a lot. I have been reading thru the post on the forum trying to catch back up but there are a lot more brands now . If I ask a stupid question let me apologize in advance but sundown and fi and all these other brands ssa sells weren't even around back then .

Hello guys, Looking to do my first semi big build consisting of focal expert 6.5 components up front, almani audio 6.5 rears for midbass, pioneer gm-d8604 amp, Sony xav-712hd DVD player, DC 5.0k amp running @ .5ohm, and a DD 9915 with super charge option although I'm not stuck on running the DD because I have two AA team 18s I could run...decisions! I'll be running a mechman 240a alternator, group 24 agm and 2 H8 agm Batts in the rear with 2 runs (or more?) of 2/0 front to back in my 2007 4runner. My question, how do I got about wiring the front batt to the rear, could I use a bus bar in the rear that ties the two positive terminals of the rear Batts togeth…

Hey everyone, This i my first time making an account in any forum so my bad if anything isn't formatted correctly. My name is Robert but I go by Rich, I live in Central Florida. I've been into car audio for about 5 years now so I'm still pretty new. I've had two different sound setups, one was a Sundown x-12 on a Crescendo 1500.1 in a Ford Ranger the other was 4 sa-10s crammed into the ass end of a Grand Marquis on a Soundqubed 2200. Right now I'm driving a bone stock Camry and I'm still undecided on what kind of sound upgrades I'm going to do to it. I've lurked on a bunch of different car audio forums for years but figured I'd go ahead and make a…

So I just picked up a box and 2x10 Rockford Fosgate subs for my Ram. So the subs are 4 ohm 150watt RMS each with a peak of 300watt. Here's the problem. I listen to rock mainly so I don't care about a TON of bass, but I do like a good amount. The subs are bridged or whatever, and that's where I don't know what amp to get without spending a fortune. The two subs don't have two wires each I guess that's what bridged means? So my question is, what channel, RMS, ohm all that stuff, what would be the best amp for me? I'm so lost and the audio guy near my house is just trying to make money off of me. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Been registered since 2010, inactive on the forums(used mostly for lurking, reading up on things). Only slightly more active on ****. Audio has been my (oft neglected) hobby for the better part of 20 years. Trying to scratch my itch again, after close to a year of happily owning two 15" XCon's on a SQ 1200(.25 ohm) I decided to throw a second 1200 on them, strapped at 1 ohm. Needless to say, they started to come alive, and my itch got worse, so here I am. I mostly listen to metal, occasionally house/techno, a little rap(a guy has to demo once in a while!) Previous setup(last vehicle, about 3 years ago): 2001 Monte Carlo SS (Not measured, guesstimated aro…
