How *NOT* To Be a Newbie Computers Culture Internet Stupidity By Lilith DemHareIs Every day thousands of people join the great cosmic force known as the Internet. And many of these people like to go around with big red neon signs screaming NEWBIE!!" (Blinking signs, at that.) The sad part is that they don't know they are wearing these glaring pointers. Very few people are willing to help these poor souls. If you are new to the Net, here are a few tips to toss off that neon sign. First of all, don't go around announcing that you are a newbie. This will be apparent without your drawing attention to the fact. Many people will post to a newsgroup, or a maillist or so, say…

Hello Everyone! Stumbled upon this forum researching on Sundown Audio amps. My name is Jay. I work for Shop SFM / GCTuner the aftermarket performance side of Vertical Doors INC in Corona, CA (yeah the lambo door kit guys lol ) I've been modifying my ride since day one (Literally no stock day since ownership! ) I'm in the market now to do a simple sub and amp setup (budget friendly & light weight if possible). I don't need super loud and prefer clean SQ sound. I'm super noobish especially when it comes to this department so I appreciate any and all help. For now I'll be trolling the site reading up on your guys' setups. Thank you very much! Here's a few pics on my…

Hi guys, Just got the third 18 in this week and we are starting a new build in a 2002 Chevy Suburban. We've got a TON of room as we're going to go up to the B pillar. We're using 3 SSA Evil 18" subs on 3 Linear Power 2250 amplifiers which should be at 2500w ea (maybe a touch more at 15.8v we will be running with dual alts/batts etc). I've modeled these subs till my head hurts and I've asked a few people for opinions on the enclosure and gotten quite a mixed result. The most popular opinion has been a 4th order using 3 to 3.5 cu ft ea sealed and 9 to 10.5 cu ft ported...modeling looks best to me at 3.5 and 31.5 cu ft with a 30x17.25 port (roughly 90% of total Sd…

So i bought some 6.5 evils to swap out mt HEX 6.5 components .. and was planning on changing out the evil tweets soon as they are available and was gonna use the HEX crossovers. But was told on a different forum that the evils won't be as good. And most likely wont work well with the hex xovers.. should i sell the evils and keep the hex? Your thoughts are appreciated =D. Ty

Konichiwa, I am curious as to what kind of #'s people are getting (sealed on the dash) out of the Xcon's from there trunks. My little setup this year: Kenwood Excelon 997, Digital Designs m3b, Soundqubed Q-200, Xcon 12's, Powerbass components, Xs3400, Xs3100, 220 alt, 0awg welding cable & SkyHighCarAduio. ..So if you have or are currently using Xcon's "please" post your #'s. Thanx

Aloha! Screenname is carshateme and if you've been on other car audio forums, you'll see me there as well. Just learned about this one..decided to join. Trying to learn everything I can and get good deals on stuff as well. I'm mostly being used stuff..since they're practically the same as new stuff, don't see why I should spend extra money for something that'll perform just as good at a lower price. Looking for a few amps. So I'll be posting around.

So I'll start off with my goals. I want a setup where the bass is accurate, precise, and powerful. However, I don't want subwoofers that are just loud and completely overwhelm the musicality of my front stage and midbass. I want midbass that efficiently bridges the gap where my subwoofer(s) fall off and I want midbass that is loud enough to make itself heard. The front stage I'm not too concerned with, though I would like a nice blend for vocals. The experience where you feel as if you are at the concert. That being said, I will now talk about the system as it is now. THE POWER GRID: What's in it now: 180 amp high output alternator. 2000 w…

Been registered since 2010, inactive on the forums(used mostly for lurking, reading up on things). Only slightly more active on ****. Audio has been my (oft neglected) hobby for the better part of 20 years. Trying to scratch my itch again, after close to a year of happily owning two 15" XCon's on a SQ 1200(.25 ohm) I decided to throw a second 1200 on them, strapped at 1 ohm. Needless to say, they started to come alive, and my itch got worse, so here I am. I mostly listen to metal, occasionally house/techno, a little rap(a guy has to demo once in a while!) Previous setup(last vehicle, about 3 years ago): 2001 Monte Carlo SS (Not measured, guesstimated aro…

Looking for some recommendations for a head unit. So, what I will be working with is 4 evil1 tweets, 4 evil65 mids, and 2 nvx800.4 amps to power them. One amp will power all mids, and the other will power the tweets. 2 or 3 15 inch subs will come later. Almost decided on the hellions. But, anyways I want to run an active setup in my 96 jeep grand cherokee. I thought about using the amps crossovers instead of a head unit. I also considered an audio control matrix plus since I will be using y splinters and do not want to lose any rca output. What head unit would anyone recommend for this setup? Also, if using the nvx 800.4 crossover is a bad idea, is there another setup tha…

Hello. I joined this site as a favour to my husband. He is always talking to me about car audio this and that and I will be honest. I only understand about half of what he is saying. I have spent the last few months reading threads and information from his account, but when i ask questions i get more confused that before I asked. I really want to be a part of his hobby, and want to understand so maybe i can climb up the helper ladder from "go find my the square screwdriver" to "help me sauder this wires". I sort of understand ohm's, how to build a box(help with that lots), i understand how cars themselves work(i have been a car fanatic since i could walk) but amplifiers…

Hey everyone I'm Michael and just ran across this forum/store looking at a couple sa-15s. Looked around for a while and have seen some great builds and a lot of info so thought I would check in and introduce myself. I've been into car audio for about 13 years but have just lately wanted to start building my own setups instead of buying crap from Craigslist. As of now I have a quantum audio cosmik 15 in my first built ported box that ended up being about 6 cubic feet and tuned to 35. Didn't realize it would be such a giant when building it lol. But it sounds good and I'm going to be starting a new bigger build with in the month and can't wait to show everyone and get some …
