I got a 270xp series alt for a 1997 I6 4.0L jeep wrangler a few months ago. I wanted to know what other vehicles and years it would fit on? I'm looking to get a new car and likely better off selling the alt and buying a new one then sending it in for a new case. Car is still undecided, likely scion tc or volvo v70 Thanks

I'm looking for a lower alternator for my F250. Mine didn't come from the factory with duals, but I'm hoping to find the bracket and add it. Also, I've noticed my alternator doesn't start charging right away. It usually takes 30sec to 1 minute or even long before I see 14+ volts. I heard this is because of the glowplugs. Do you know exactly why? Also, I was told, I couldn't hook up a second alternator unless I got my PCM reflashed to properly supply turn on power for the alternator. But I figured I could get a new plug and tie into the original alternators wiring. I basically need to know what to do here. I sure don't want to mess anything up. So a quote on a lower altern…

  18. The purpose of this thread is to discuss the design flaw of the 250XP alternator case. This thread is NOT to BASH on DC Power so DO NOT use it to do so. I am here to discuss ONLY fact's, and help improve on design quailty. The mounting ear has broke twice on my 250XP alternator, in under a year. This is installed on a 2.3L 4 cyl equipped 99' honda Accord. The case is weak due to not enough material left around the mounting ears and the bracket allowing too much movement. From what I understand DC Power will be redesigning the case and leaving more material. I will post pics of the new one if Rob does not. If this happens again I would hope for a bracket redesign also.…

Well first I should say i have a 2002 jeep liberty (KJL v6 3.7 liter I was reading an article on its eletrical system and found this charging system of our KJ's is much different to ones in the past. I have been told that in an efforet to protect the PCM and other computer components in the KJ, the charging system draws from the battery FIRST and then calls on the Atl/Gen to re-plenish the battery as needed. That is why the new generation of Deep Cycle batteries work so well. They have the reserve power to allow the extra toys without needing to add the huge alt/gen of the past. As you use your lights, stereo, winches, what ever, they will be drawing from a battery that…

Godday Rob and Kyle, I'm needing an alternator for my 2008 Hyundai Elantra, 2.0L DOHC engine. I'm going for high idle output, but not something that will be a strain on the engine because it is a smaller vehicle, HP series probably.
