I've been out of car audio for a long time and I need some help choosing new components. I already have speakers, subs and amps so this is just for source components and processors. I'm looking for affordable but nice-sounding products. The one thing I absolutely don't want is harsh-sounding electronics. I want a H/U with CD, DVD, FM, HD radio, and digital output. The only thing that must be built into the face is CD. For the sake of economy, the H/U doesn't need a built-in screen but, if it does, I want a touch screen with nice controls. The DVD is actually a future upgrade (maybe) and will have a larger separate screen. I prefer that the H/U not have built-in amps …

I am new to this forum and I am in need of some input. My goal is an somewhat simple SQ focused system and I feel like I have a good start with the equipment that I have but I would like to know if I am missing anything or I'd there is anything I could add to it that would help me reach my goal. I have been out of the scene for a while so my approach is somewhat basic and I don't know if technology exists that could really compliment my current setup. I really hate to even ask, but are there any good subwoofer grille recommendations? I use my trunk pretty often, and even with my current sub I get nervous about things rubbing up against it, or worse. As much as I dont want to cover up the Icon sub I ordered, I also dont want to ruin it, especially since I'll be packing my trunk full with an upcoming road trip. Any grille suggestions?

so i didnt know where to put this, but feel free to move it i am doing an overhall on my car and setting up a friends so i figured i would do it right the first time i have installed a few systems, but never but a second battery in a car so im putting the same system in my car and a friends which consists of a 3000W fusion amp, FI BL12 fully loaded subs (dual 2 ohm) and an extra battery the cars are an 03 525i and 2008 Wrangler so i figured 1/0 wire to connect the new battery and 4 gauge from the battery to amp do i need a fuse between the car battery and audio battery and audio to amp or just on the power wire to the amp, and how big of a fuse (the amp has 4x40amp fuses)…

when someone who thinks he knows a lot about car audio (and he doesnt) and has a lot of money braggs 24/7 about what he has? this one guy in my area has MTX throughout his car. i think he has 2 12 8500 subs and a 1000 watt amp. anyways, he always says MTX is the shiznit and that nothing even comes close. he also told me that MTX RULES the competition. i brought up RE and FI and he was like nope, MTX would KILL them all. lmao. this has prob been posted before with different people, but imo, it all depends on the install, and more so, the persons taste in music and what he thinks sounds good. im not saying mtx sucks, but im sure it is not THE ABSOLUTE BEST. everyone has th…

Hey guys , need a little help here i have my mono amp under my driver seat , and my component's amp under my passenger seat, now i am going to be entering into street stock division this season, and i heard from a reliable source that i would have to move my amps into the trunk to qualify in street stock , and then i heard from another reliable source that as long as the amps are completely hidden under the seat that it would be all good, ??? which is the correct info ?? any help or advice would be apreciated, thanks

So what happens if you pump a 12 CVR in a Bandpass box with a 800watt ppi pcx amp? what are the concequenses?

I'm not gonna try and go deep into this as this topic would then get boring. But on a general level- SSD with copper coil and BP vs ICON Both comparing 10s here being delivered 1100w. I like it loud loud but as u can see i am comparing using copper coil so some nice transient response needs to be there as well. I read about the flatwound but do not think i want it. On a general level, is this a win win situation? Both bout the same regardless?

You guys are great here and I know you know a lot. I have a friend that needs to find a high quality line out converter with a remote out for an amp. I don't want the Scosche because it's not the best out there. I was looking at the Southgate LOC but it doesn't have a remote out for the amp. So, I will be running 2 subs off a 2k RF amp and also about another 1k watts to mids and highs. I will be doing big 3 and puttin a extra battery in the back (smaller one). Right now I have a 160 amp alt and a stock 730ampere battery. Are these going to be enough or will I probably have to upgrade them?

Ok i just rushed and finished up my box not to long ago(too late to listen to it) and the opening of the port is 5.75"(what its suppose to be) but the closing end is 5.25".... Would that make a BIG noticeable difference in sound or should i end myself and the box?? If u need more specs let me know.

Gonna put some subs under the rear seat in my 2007 Silverado. If I face the subs firing out into the cab, the biggest subs I can fit without moddifying the seats are 8's. But if I face em up, I can get away with 10's or possibly 12's. My question is: Would firing the subs up into the bottom of the seat effect their sound? Is this advisable to do, or would there not really be a difference? Thanks.

Okay I've been on these forums and have been looking at a lot of box designers and box designs. I was just curious to find out how much everybody paid for their enclosures/ sub boxes? This is not for the experts who can make their own boxes though your expert quotes are welcomed. This is for those who don't know and are learning how to make enclosures and had to pay lol. Also state if materials were included or not. If possible give the length of time it took. Pics would also be a plus.
