Here I go again with the hairtrick thread lol. But just curious again. Are hairtricks done based on cone area or power? I'm thinking both because you need more cone area to push more air but what's the point of more cone area without the power? Enlighten me guys with your experience and knowledge and what you guys recommend for me to do hairtricks on a budget. I'm thinkin a 15" SA-15 and a SAE 1000 as my system for the year. Not expecting hairtricks but what mods do you guys think I should do , add another sub, amp etc. Thanks guys.

We'll with only one week until the parade my sister has asked me to figure out a way for them to play music for their float In the parade. My main problem is the truck towing the float isn't mine, so I can't take apart, change or modify anything on the vehicle. Second problem is this needs to be done for as close to free as possible. First thought is a power inverter to power one of their boom boxes and just bungy cord it all to the bed of the truck. Issue here is the power inverters with enough current aren't cheap, hard to source locally and I'm not a big fan of having to directly wire it to the truck's battery. I do have two old Kinetik HC1800s in my garage.....the…

This may be something extremely simple and I may have just wasted my time by making this video, but I'm a little stumped as to what my problem is. I saved myself a lot of typing and you guys a lot of reading by just making a video. Give it a look and tell me what you think! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YXu_Jx9_xKA Took forever to upload the damn video.

I am looking into buying two 15" subs, a nice decent headunit, an amp to power the subs, a set of components for the front and an amp to power the components. What would you guys recommend for all of that. I have no more than $1500 to work with and I would like to stay under that price. I want the equipment to be nice high quality equipment, but still staying under that price. Thanks, Kyle

  8. This is my first system, might attempt DIY if I can find someone local to walk me through, or there is a small local shop I trust. Going in 07 Yaris Hatch. i was thinking subless, but now I might want to throw a 10" sub in the back for some more SPL and bass. I want an even mix of SQ and SPL, (50:50) but if I tilt to more SPL (40:60 respectively), I won't mind. This will not be a competition car. Going to run active. Current parts (in hand) HU: Alpine CDA-9887 Kick-Panel: Hybrid Audio (HAT) Legatia-4 (L4) Rear: RE Audio XXX 6.5 Components w/ tweeters (tweets in the A-pillar or by the L4's, not decided yet) I'll be using Second Skin's Damplifier for the dampening. So... Wi…

so my ultimate goal is to get hair tricks. after that im good. i tried with my current set up (15"xcon sealed in 3 cubes) and i can get a tiiiinnnyyy bit of movement with the window almost comepletly closed. sad i know. im wondering what i need to do to get a half decent hair trick. what i have in mind is to get another 15 and do a wall behind my rear seats. maaaaaaayyyybbeee 18's. i know the bigger the better but since i already have one, might as well add rather than start over. so yea, i wanna build a wall with 2 15's both subs and port above back rests (will be keeping seats in and up not folded down). i already have 1 t1000 amp. with that and another 15 would that …

Alright, bought this woofer from a noob to this site. sub arrived VERY promptly, with EXCELLENT packaging. (thanks rog2961 !) Now, some of you may know I am NOT an ed fan. But this price was fantastic. Now i bought it knowing it was blown, so i didn't listen to this one, but i have heard 3 or so in person, and they don't sound half bad really. and for the price? the sound is a-OK. But the build quality leaves MUCH to be desired. (and i DO mean MUCH) Now, on to the pics i promised- the "comex""cone" as ed portrays it. its really very neat looking, and the little eD logo displayed in the middle. now, when these first came out, i noticed the proto drivers looked like the "c…

I purchased an AQ2200D from Audioque on 3/1/11. I received it on 5/3/11, which is o.k. because they told me there was a wait when I ordered (well, after I ordered. They said I could either get my money back or just wait; I chose to wait). When the time came to put the amp in the truck, it didn't work. No, it wasn't set to slave We called AQ and tried all troubleshooting options to no avail. Just to be sure wiring was correct, we threw my brother's Hifonics Brutus in place of the 2200D and it worked perfectly. This told me there was, in fact, a problem with the amp. So I did the logical thing and shipped it back to AQ, expecting to get my amp repaired or be sent a new one…

Hey guys, I just finished installing a new system in my 08 Infiniti G37 Coupe, and it sounds great. I will upload some pics later, but I installed a cleansweep, a Sundown 100.2, a Sundown 1500d, phoenix gold rsd components in the front, and an RE SE 10. The RE 10 sounds good, but I know that the 1500 can do alot more than it is currently doing, and I would like to get a new 10 inch that would take 1000-1500 @ one ohm. I listen to mostly rock music, but I really listen to everything. I am not looking for huge numbers, but I do like alot of bass. I know it is a tall order to get a 10 incher to pressurize well, especially in a trunk. As far as box size, I can probably …

I would like to install an SQ setup in my car. For right now I would like to keep the factory h/u. Also, I would like to keep all speakers in their original location just to keep everything looking stock. For subs I do not want anything more than 2 10's. I have even thought of 8's in the rear dash to make things a little lighter. Current setup.........6 speaker bose..........please view link for pics and I appreciate all suggestions. Would like to keep budget under $1000 http://s470.photobucket.com/albums/rr65/kcazual/

Hi, I am planning a budget build in my 2003 Mazda Protege ES. I am new to AudioQue but I am smitten. I love their straight forward, no BS approach. And I love thier prices. I am very interested in the AQ1200D to push an HDC3-15. Now my delima is building a box. I have always gone prefab in the past so I have no experience. I figure I have about 30 to 35Wx16Hx17D to work with in my trunk. I need to be able to take the box in and out as needed. I want to step my game up and get away from mainstream prefab electronics store propaganda. If you know what I mean. I just really want to do my first true quality build. AQ states thier 15's call for 4.5 with sub displacement and po…

well i had recently bought a new Truck. I got a 09 F150 single cab. Im currently running a sealed Box my cousin made that fits behind my seat im semi limited in space becuse it's a single cab. The box is 4ft long by 12"deep 12" tall to a slant i belive 6" top and the Box is insulated. It's also sealed in the center between the two subs. TO make two different compartments. My cousin had told me it was better to do it that way and i belive one compartment is semi larger then the other He claims " it will make 2 different tones. Now my subs sound pretty good imo i have yet to do a distance test to tell how far you can hear it But i have heard from some people you can hear …

Ok guys, I did a little searching of old threads and didn't find what I was looking for. My problem is: My amp (IA 40.1 ) Batteries (big ass diesel truck batteries) and strangely my sub (IA 21 DP) are condensating! I live in Michigan, so I'm assuming this isn't entirely uncommon, but there isn't a lot of info on how destructive it is to your equipment. Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

For 1/0AWG or even 4AWG terminals.. Of this style: I'll use a screw and put in in the crease and squeeze in a bench-vise then rotate 90* and squeeze again. Usually have to do it a few times each way to get it secure, but even then I don't feel too confident of it's pull strength. There's gotta be a better/faster way.

I have 2 18s in seperate enclosures. I was told by some others that my ports where to small on my boxes. I had them tuned to about 31hz..so I made them bigger. Should be around 36-37 according to Torres..at the same time I bought a used DD z1 amp and hooked it all back up. Its sounds like shit..wont hit lows for shit. Do you think I tuned to high, or did I get a bad amp? Wtf

I've had my subwoofer installed for just over 2 years now with no issues. Now when I start my car (No music playing) The power light on my bass knob flashes and I can hear my subwoofer slightly thumping. I've checked the ground and the power cables but can't figure out what causing it. The clipping light doesn't flash red, just the power light. I attached a video of this. You cant hear the thumping because its very low. The amp I'm using is a Sundown SAZ 1500D and I'm using the bass knob that came with that amp. This issue will happen almost every time I start my car but last week it stopped for about 4 days and now its back and even worse than it was before. Ba…

Well a "new to me" car and it is a 2006 Infiniti m35. I did not want the damn 14 piece bose system but I found a low millege m35 for a good price and it has it. I haven't listened to it yet (I won't be receiving it for another week or two) but I am assuming the worst from my past experiences with other bose equipment. How much of a pain in the ass would it be to install a head unit in the glove box or center console and maintain the factory dash and steering wheel controls. I really don't want to mess with the dash as it has a 6 disc changer in it and is beautiful as it is. I'm at the point where I may just add a sub if the sound isn't terrible, I can't find anyone who re…
