Hey, well about two months ago, I put it my sub amp (hifonics 1606d) in with a temporary sub from my home theater set up. Immediately I noticed there was a really loud hissing, even when the RCA's were disconnected. I figured it was a ground, so I tried another spot, with the same results. I left it alone untill I install my speakers and amp, which is now. I finished installing my comps, wired everything up and it was all fine. But i noticed a really faint high pitched noise when the engine is on or off. I have a switched wired to the remote wire of the sub amp. When i turn that on, it turns into a real loud whine, although i cant tell if it changes with engine speed, I'm…

There is a bunch on eBay for under $10. They seem very cheap looking and I am not sure where I would go about mounting them. What meters are recommended for update speed, accuracy and still maintain a sleek appearance?

I’m curious if anyone can fill me in on what’s going on with AL? I know SSA and DroppinHZ used to sell them but now I can’t find any online dealers. I’ve been told they are ghosting their dealers right now and it appears they are liquidating some products on their site. When they first came out everyone said they had great CS and then I started hearing of warranty horror stories. Wonder if shady practices did them in?

  7. I know some about car audio, mostly from my modding and electrical work, but I'm still confused about a few things...so bear with me. 1. SPL or Daily - we all know there's a difference, what will you be using your system for? - But what EXACTLY does this adhere to? I'd be using my system on a daily basis, not maxed out all the time, but I'm a major basshead, so there will be many occasions where I'll be wanting to tear the chit out of the guy next to me, without putting any stress on my system (subs specifically) whatsoever. So what would be better? SPL or daily? SPL gives you more power and punch correct? While daily gives you lasting performance right? Well I want the p…

  9. I am going to be installing a factory batter in the trunk. I have three choices for Tray's. I'm not really sure what the difference is or which one I should get. I'm assuming more Amp hours is better. After looking at this stuff I'm actually thinking It might come with a battery? may not be size related. I need some direction. 61 AMP HOUR $40.46 95 AMP HOUR $38.76 72 AMP HOUR $38.76

In trying to fix the wire that comes from the inside of the engine bay fuse box that connects to the battery. For some reason to burn and makes it hard to start my car...would this be from my car audio system or from the wire being loose on the connecting post.

  12. I recently put a system in my regular cab Silverado, and i am wondering about where to start (general range) for crossover points. I have 2 sundown sd3 10s running off of an NVX1200.1 and a set of SSA Evil 6.5s and Tweeters running off of an NVX 800.4. It is running active off of a pioneer 80prs. Also, is there a general place to start as far as slopes go? 12db or 24db? I know every install is different and people have different tastes but im just looking for a decent place to start from.

Ok I just got my fi bl 18 and we have it hooked up to a hifonics bxi1606 and it is ran by a pioneer deh 5900, but anyway it worked good when i first got it 2 days ago, then it started making a weird noise and stopped working. Then after we took the whole thing apart and couldn't find the problem we put it back together and it magically started working again. Then today it stopped again. We took the whole thing apart and the amp still works and the sub isnt blown, and it isn't the auxiliary. Idk we've been messing with it for like 4 hours and the only thing i could think of is that a door speaker is messing up or the rem wire is messing up. Any help much appreciated, Mike…

  19. This is the follow up to my last thread that got a bit jumbled and confusing. I decided it was the best plan to go active for my 1991 S10 single cab install as M5 suggested. I went ahead with the purchase of a Memphis X03 crossover, the Mli-65 mids, and the North D25 tweeters. I now have all the parts on hand and from the look and feel of everything I'm VERY happy with the components. The crossover though made in china is good and heavy, the only complaint I have on it is there are only 2 markins on each frequency knobs. The MLi-65 are SUPERBLY built, the grilles are very sturdy, the baskets are cast, the cones are thick pulp, and the surrounds are rubber. I really …

Hi, iv'e seen something very strange for the first time. Iv'e installed by sound from old car to new. A 2000w sub on a 2500w amp. 1 x hi to low convertor and speakers still run of factory radio. Amp mounted on rear seat. When the volume is all the way up and the trunk is open every thing seems fine. But when the trunk is closed and the volume turned softer until 0, the sub keeps on pounding, very loudly. But if the 1500w amp is tested, everything is normal. Could this be because of the hi to low convertor or because the speakers are still running on factory radio?
